CURRENT MISSION

I love to meet people from around the world and share about our respective cultures. My mission is to increase cross-cultural understanding through my academic work and through remaining open to all that life hands me.

ABOUT ME

My number one passion in life in music. I am currently completing my PhD in ethnomusicology, which is a field that combines anthroplogy and music. In basic terms I investigate the way that people use music to créate, mainitain, and shift culture. I also love to travel and have spent time in Africa, Asia, and, primarily, in Latin America. I also read voraciously and enjoy hiking, rock cllimbing, dancing, and going to plays, concerts, and movies. Overall, I am easy going and friendly.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live my life in a way where I can remain open to new experiences. I find that I learn from every interaction I have with people. I take my studies and my career very seriously, but I also like to relax and have fun.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Although I am not a great cook I love to share meals and good conversation with others. I am happy to do the dishes to make up for my lack of culinary skills! As stated above, I would love to partake in cultural events like attending concerts (of all types of music), plays, movies, and museums.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to this site, So far I have attended some social events in Buenos Aires where I am currently living. At this time I cannot host, but I plan to do so in the future.

For fun I read mostly novels like Life of Pi, Lolita, The Time Travelers Wife, The Amazing Adventures of Klay and Cavalier, and Everything is Illuminated.

I like comedies the best especially foreign ones like French or British comedies, and most Woody Allen flicks. I also like good dramas. Some of my fav. tv shows include The Office, Parks and Rec, Castle, and Modern Family.

I like most types of music but not necessarily every song/band. I really love jazz especially the classic singers like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn and also Diana Krall and Diane Schur. Also The Police, Depeche Mode, the Cars (lots of 80s and early 90s stuff), Portis head, Massive Attack. I listen to a lot of music from around the world primarily in Spanish including rock en español (Juanes, Julieta Venegas, Mana), Las Orishas, salsa, and folk music. I love to exchange music with other people.

Top on my lists are a safari in Kenya, rock climbing in Boulder, CO, snorkeling in the Caribbean, and Tikal park at dawn in Guatemala.
