Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Sharing whatever I can via Internet (information, language practice, etc.), meeting other CouchSurfers even when none of us is traveling, and getting friends to join.
My first surfing experiences were in Erzurum and Kars during a trip I took through eastern Turkey with a group of friends. Everything was too good for me to not join CS! Now that I'm in, I've enjoyed using CS as a way to meet new people wherever I happen to be; highlights include all sorts of gatherings in NYC and Burning Kouch 2011, as well as surfing and meet-ups throughout South America.
PEOPLE I wish there were a less cliché way to say this, but I love meeting people and learning from them. There are few things I wouldn't give for a good conversation. No matter how mundane you think your life story might be, I guarantee that it's interesting to me!ARTS Since it's physically impossible for me to know the entire world, I enjoy traveling through music, literature, cinema, visual and performing arts, etc. As an escapist of sorts, I've been acting in theater for as long as I can remember, and I couldn't make it through life without singing and dancing. LANGUAGES Communication fascinates me. I get genuine pleasure from understanding others and making myself understood. If I could learn languages as a profession, I would.Other prominent interests include SOCIAL JUSTICE and PRODUCE. Beyond this, you'll just have to ask...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Coming across a samba percussion group (made up only of Turks) on the street in Istanbul and becoming their "token Brazilian," playing everywhere from lavish wedding receptions to an organic produce market. Being a part of Sambistanbul was the defining experience of my time in Turkey, and the musicians I met have become some of my best friends.
