About Me

I was born and raised in the depths of the English countryside.

After completing Secondary school I moved to China for six months where I taught English at a boarding school in Shandong province.

I completed my BA in Chinese Studies, which included a further 12 months in China. I spent most of this time in Nanjing, studying at Nanjing University and the rest travelling around the country. I am about to start a Master's in International Relations and can't wait to continue my education.

I love travelling, my idea of a holiday is getting out by 5am to avoid the heat and walking 30km before breaking for lunch. Not everyone's cup of tea but don't worry getting up at a reasonable time and going exploring in an unknown place is also high up on my list of things I enjoy!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing to meet people who really know the places I visit, who are able to share information I wouldn't be able to find elsewhere.

I love being outside and being active! My last holiday was spent walking 300km of the Camino de Santiago where I made friends with people who I would never have met at home while hiking through the heatwave.

Music, Movies, and Books

I happily listen to any music except trance. Though forced to choose I have a soft spot for Robbie Williams and Jack Savoretti.

I enjoy watching Sci-fi and Superhero films, as well as pretty much anything with a little magic.

Harry Potter remains my favourite series. I also love most of Terry Pratchett's books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have lived, studied and taught in China for 18 months while learning the language, I loved living there and made some amazing friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some Chinese (Mandarin) and share my experiences of living in China. I love learning about new places, particularly where the best hiking spots are!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories of my past travels, from hiking through Tiger Leaping Gorge towards Shangri-la to working at a Summer camp in Florida. I love learning about new places and want to share my excitement with like minded people. I am tidy and can seem a bit quiet at first, but soon warm up and am quite talkative.
