About Me

Well, my name is Hayden, and I'm 18 years old.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because my wonderful friend Sunny found it and recommended it to me, for which I am eternally grateful.

Interests

I enjoy hiking (thanks to my beautiful older sister), eating (mostly just healthy stuff, fruits, veggies, granola, etc. As a general rule, I'll enjoy it if it's not "junk food" or "fast food."), reading (absolutely everything), and obviously a bunch of other things, but that's what I got off of the top of my head.

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh gosh, where to start..
Music: I listen and like ALMOST everything I hear (I'm thinking of you, Tyler), but I was raised on rock music. I grew up listening to things like Shinedown, 3 Doors Down, 30 Seconds to Mars, Theory of a Deadman, Breaking Benjamin, Creed, Evanescence, Flyleaf, and many many others. As I grew away from my homebase of music, I got more into alternative things, and stayed there for around a year and a half. My senior year of high school, I was introduced to rap, by the same person that brought me to this site. I have to admit, I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me. At the moment, my top three favorite rap artists are Childish Gambino, Logic, and Lil Dicky. At this point in my life, I listen to multiple genres of music throughout the day, depending on how I'm feeling at that moment.

Books: Absolutely everything is what I read. I was inducted into the reading lifestyle in 3rd grade-ish by the same sister that got me into hiking. I read fiction/sci-fi/fantasy books from then all the way up to around my freshman year of high school, when I started branching out. I used to hate biographies and auto-biographies, but I have overcome my dislike for them. It's hard to express here, but I hope I can make you understand sufficiently by saying that reading is a lifestyle for me, and it always will be. Books got me through certain parts of my life when people couldn't, and I'll always be in their debt for that.

Movies: I enjoy watching movies, don't get me wrong, they're just not my favorite thing to do. The root of the problem is how LONG they take, and thinking about that. Once I'm watching the movie I'm fine, but getting it started is the problem. I can't help but to think of how much time out of my day is about to be stolen. I don't know, I'm probably just weird.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Honestly, I haven't really seen anything super amazing in my life, neither have I done anything amazing. I guess that's a goal for this trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

Umm.. Well, I'm open to learning anything. I actually really enjoy learning about new things. As for teaching or sharing... Well, I can teach you pencil tricks, how to sew, basic computer software and hardware maintenance, how to build a fire, how to live when you're homeless, how to spot various edible plants... really just a bunch of random things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, I'm not really sure what I should be expected to be able to offer. I suppose in different situations I can offer you great conversation, an inconspicuous presence, a positive attitude (about pretty much everything), yummy dessert recipes (It's my specialty, but I'm actually pretty good at cooking lots of things), among other things that I really can't think of at the moment.
