ABOUT ME

i always find these boxes very intimidating. i love art! i was bread from artist and its become very apparent in my life. im a passionate person, ive got a strange sense of humor but a strong one. i am not a rapist or murderer. i will be a student in san francisco this fall. i grew up in santa cruz county and i love it there! its full of culture, interesting people, beaches and forests. i am currently living in what seems to me to be a small town in sweden. ive been here for 8 months, ive met some amazing people that i love being with but im really getting sick of the cold weather.

PHILOSOPHY

theres a balance that needs to be found between "living in the moment" and "planning ahead." and i guess one of my biggest philosophies is that contrast creates. of course there's terrible shit going on in the world, but if if werent for those things it wouldnt make the good things seem good at all. a friend once asked me "what drives you in life?" my answer to this question is opportunity. i dont ever want to miss an opportunity to do something great.

i love the idea behind this site! for right now im just looking for places to stay while my best friend and i travel around europe this summer. but when i have a more permanent address some day soon i would love to have people stay with me and let me show them around either santa cruz or san francisco(if i ever get better aquainted with that huge city).

like i mentioned before; ART. all forms of it also. music, architecture, theatre. im also a total film nerd. moving to sweden from the US has been a real eye-opener in many ways but especially a political stand point. id love to be able to see how different types of governments create different societies in the places i travel to in the future aswell. and im especially interested in the different cultures and people of the places that im going to visit. id love it if who ever my friend and i stay with could show us what the people there do regularly to have fun.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

i came from california and ive ALMOST survived a whole swedish winter, its not quite over yet though. i think my most amazing traveling experience has been going SCUBA diving off of st. john in the british isle. it was absolutely incredible! and my mom and i went skinny dipping one night after dinner at a restaurant on the beach. it was real bonding experience.

TALK TO PEOPLE. especially if you are traveling alone. i came to sweden this year not knowing anyone. if i hadnt forced myself to walk up to random people and put out my hand and say "hi, im heather, the new foreign exchange student." i dont think i would ever have made any real friends. be open minded about everything, but trust your instincts. and have a bloody good attitude. if you wake up hung over in paris the day youre going to go see the louve, dont let it ruin your day. youre in paris seeing the louve for fucks sake!! who knows if youll ever have that opportunity again!
