About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Stop procrastinating and study for exams (failing as I write...)

ABOUT ME

I grew up on the west coast of Ireland and am currently living in Dublin. I have a studying problem, but I try not to let it interfere with my socialising. Life is for living.

PHILOSOPHY

Be Happy! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've just met a few people for coffee and stayed on one couch, but I'd love to get more involved and as soon as I have my own place I'm looking forward to hosting! I love spending time with people but I'm a bit tired of staying in hostels while travelling as I'd much prefer to meet locals (not to mention speak their language with them) and to get an idea of their lifestyle, their culture, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Some of my earliest (and fondest) memories are those of my parents' friends from all over the world staying in our house in the west of Ireland. For me this is the original CS prior to the internet era and I've continued using the antique method during my recent travels. I travelled France staying with friends, friends of friends, and people I met only a few days beforehand for nearly 3 months and I spent over 4 months in Paraguay doing the same thing! Couchsurfing is a great backup for me when I don't have a contact (or can't make one) in a new city.

Interests

Languages, travelling, music (accordian, learning guitar SLOWLY), sport (soccer, sailing, swimming, mountain climbing, watching rugby, almost any sport to be honest!), reading, movies, tv, EATING, cooking (wanting to cook is possibly more accurate), photography, and much more..!

Music, Movies, and Books

The Shawshank Redemption, Cars, Love Actually, Bourne series, LOTR, The Matrix, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I tend to write movies I've seen recently on these things...basically I like lots of movies: I love something original, horror usually bores me.

Christy Moore, Johnny Cash, Kodaline, Edith Piaf, Norah Jones, Katie Melua, Coldplay, Nina Simone - again, just what I've listened to in the last couple of weeks! Like to hear traditional music in the places I travel. Almost anything goes except heavy metal and quite a bit of alcohol is needed to accept electronic too.

Khaled Hosseini, Anthony Beevor, Philip Pullman, books, books, books...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Asuncion, Paraguay for 4 months when I was 19. The hospitality I encountered was amazing! I also visited the Brazilian side of Igauzu falls which is possibly the most beautiful natural wonder I've ever seen.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you quiz me enough you're bound to find something I could teach you - can you stand on one leg, pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time?! What about after 2 bottles of wine? ;) - but I never really think about what I have to share with others. Whatever we do and talk about will depend on our encounter...

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Brazil, France, Ireland, Italy, Paraguay, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
