About Me

Travel the world, spend time with family & friends, keep my brain busy, keep my body healthy, and leave the world slightly better off for having spent time here

My husband & I both had good careers in high tech, we lived frugally, and stopped working as planned in our mid-40s. In the last dozen years, we have traveled the world, met amazing people, moved to Tucson (winters) and Vancouver, BC (summers), volunteered, and taken professional culinary, baking & pastry courses (Scott). We also both survived cancer and can compare and contrast the Canadian and American health care systems if you're interested.

"They deem me mad because I will not sell my days for gold. I deem them mad because they think my days have a price" - Kahil Gibran.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We've hosted several surfers in Tucson, and it has been an amazing experience - what a great way to meet interesting, thoughtful people!

All of my couchsurfing experience to date has been awesome. I've met some amazing people that never would have crossed my path otherwise.

Travelling, the further away the better. Good food, prepared at home, shared with friends. Hiking, biking, fishing, scuba diving, walking.Reading non-fiction. Complicated projects that keep my brain busy.Lending friends a helping hand.

We (Scott) can cook a fabulous meal in the cuisine of your choice, fix your computer (mostly Scott), regale you with stories of the 70+ countries we have visited (both), or help you figure out how to "retire" in your mid-40s like we did (Kathy). We can also give detailed advice on the ins & outs of being dual residents of two countries (US & Canada).
