15th May 2016:
A little about myself... Haven't been active on Couch Surfing in quite a while.
I've been away from Ireland for 3 years altogether. Got the travelling itch way back as a kid and its never really left me, nor ever will. Unfortunately I'm not so lucky enough just to be able to do it all the time as I fall into the bracket of people who really do have to work for a living ;-)
However my work is very enjoyable. I've been working for Microsoft, through a different company which is an American tech company. The style suits me, big office, people from all over the world, they don't micro-manage, its not sales (tried that a few times before - its not for me). Its nice not to dread going into work when you wake up in the morning basically.
I have to get away at least once a year otherwise i'll go stir crazy and be at risk to the nasty, "staying-in-the-same-place-for-ages-kinda-blues". Also its good for the soul to have something to look forward to, which brings me to my next point: Flights Just booked from Dublin -> Marrakech (5 days) -> Barcelona (9 days). So i'm like a little kid waiting for Santa, can't wait!!!
I try to be active. I skate a bit (roller blades). Well when I say a bit I mean I went yesterday after nearly 2 years for the first time. But I'm quite good on them and like to go fast downhill, up to 50 km!
Check out this link for a skate I did the other day! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYXJFcx6Sos
I like to party and hit up the cool, hipster kinda places and I'm 420 friendly. Not always, but the odd time its OK.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on Couchsurfing because nearly 10 years ago I heard about it for the first time from an Irish girl I was working with in a bar in Belgium. Sounded strange at first but I decided to go along with her when we were randomly back in Dublin after Belgium to a picnic at Phoenix Park, Dublin. There I was struck by how friendly and genuine the people there were and seemed like a great initiation into Couchsurfing.
When I have stayed with people I have only good things to say about my experiences with Couchsurfing, and would like to continue to meet genuine and open people, as these are the most valuable encounters you are likely to have in my opinion. Plus it really helps to meet locals when you go travelling, to make it less daunting the prospect of perhaps if travelling alone going to a new place.
Music, TV, movies, books, anything creative, getting out and being active. Table tennis. Roller blading.
Exploring places I have never been before - Place me in a mundane place I've never been before and I'll still find it interesting.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Snorkled off the Perhentian Island off the east coast of Malaysia. The water was so clear, I saw 4 black tip reef sharks by myself, and a massive turle that swam quite happily along with me under water, going up to get some air together and down to the sea bed below, for about 20 minutes, was awesome!!!
