My name is Hugo, a mature art student from Portugal. Living in London since 2001.

I am a very sociable person, and I frequently go to art galleries, museums, cinema, theatre, music concerts (from rock to classical), and other cultural events. My films preference goes to world cinema, independent and animation.
I don’t watch tv, but I do watch documentaries, mainly about art, design, history, science, philosophy, sociology, psychology, among others.
I follow the news regularly, national and international, and I like to debate ideas.

I like meeting new people and getting new perspectives of life. I like to do different things, in different places, at different times, with different people.

I have a relaxed approach to life, a good sense of humour and I like to make others laugh.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be traveling to Japan on the 6th of July until the 3rd of August. I will be going to Fukuoka, Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo, plus other places in between. Please feel free to suggest the places in between.

This will be my first time in Japan, and although I don't expect big cultural changes, I have been researching about what I should do or not. My main foreseen difficulty is communicating, as I don't speak any Japanese. I would be very grateful if anyone is willing to give me “lessons”. This could be done through here, or any other way that you may find more suitable.

I would very much appreciate any kind of help or useful information.

I also want to attending local CS meetups in the places that I will be.

All of my accommodation is booked. In Fukuoka, from the 6th until the 17th July, I will be in a studio apartment with 2 futons, and I am happy to receive anyone.
