About Me

Make it outta here Alive

Well what to say, Hi I suppose might be a good start.
I'm a guy who has Cystic Fibrosis and I've found myself (not accidentally) travelling around this planet of ours. I think that I am quite easy going and get on with pretty much everyone I know and even if I don't always agree with them, it's the differences that make us us isn't it and it makes for dynamic converations. I am very interested in Buddhism and after being involved at a centre in Manchester I spent a few weeks learning in a Monastery in Nepal (July/August 2011).
I feel inadequate that I can only speak English but a few years ago I did learn Mandarin but as I haven't kept it up most of that has evaporated from my memory (dammed memory). I can hardly write ALL about me here if I did that then there'd be nothing new to WOW you with would there?

I've had many in the past, nothing stays exactly the same forever does it so at the moment I think this sums it up pretty well
"By definition you have to live until you die. Better to make that life as enjoyable as possible, in case death is shite, which I suspect it might be" - from Trainspotting.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I am able to meet up with travellers for a drink of meal, maybe possible to cook for you at my place. No couch available atm. Working on that as I type.

No "official" experience but I have had the pleasure of spending a few nights here n there with friends or friends of friends who have kindly opened their doors (and sofas) to me and I have done the same for friends and their friends in the past.
Also enjoyed my time in KL with the CS crowd looking at getting in to the local scene soon.

Ok so there's a lot to put here so I'll just put some of the things that I'm interested in. Learning is top of my list as I love to learn new things about anything (more the better if I'm interested in the subject matter), I am interested in body art/mods from piercings and tattoos to branding and implants, Parkour (not a long term traceur), reading (just finished Trainspotting I'm going to have to keep updating this aren't I), drawing (I'll have to spread a doodle game I was introduced to in Nepal), I also like to cook a good meal and can whip up a few things in the kitchen (I've not poisoned anyone yet lol), I like meeting new people and listening to their stories and telling them mine, socialising is a massive part of people's lives and not much beats good people, good food, good conversation it all makes for a great atmosphere and experience. Well that's just a few of my interests and I hope I can share more with hosts, surfers and hear about yours.

Music, Movies & Books

in that order.... (nah Music, Movies, then Books)
Well I love Indie and Rock music but like many things it constantly changes and I like artists from 2pac to the Stone Roses, What's on your iPod most played n I'll give it a listen.
Love a good story, so long as the story is good I'll give it a go. Films well I love a good story. Some of my top ten (because it constantly changes but some are probably always in the top 10) Dead Man's Shoes, Nightwatch, The Usual Suspects (bet loads of people put that but it's good) and Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (just a childhood favourite really).
I loved Terry Pratchett Discworld novels when I was growing up, I like the Chopper books by Mark Brandon "Chopper" Read the way he writes its like he's just with you in the pub telling stories, Jasper Fforde is my author of the moment though, Nursery Crime and Literary Detective novels have me hooked.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I have climbed to the top of Sigiriya in Sri Lanka not once but twice (the views are that amazing), ok it's got steps and walkways so its not a mountain but it was hard work for a person with CF.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach? I'm not sure what exactly I can teach anyone, I could try and teach simple meditation techniques I suppose. I've not had any formal training to teach anything so I guess I can only teach what I know. I know quite a lot about airway clearance techniques if anybody is interested?...... Nope didn't think so

Countries I've Visited

India, Italy, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I've Lived In

Australia, Czech Republic, United Kingdom
