O mnie

After eight years of fun in the cookie and candy industry (designing packaging), I have decided to take a break a pursue a new path in life (a majority of which has yet to be determined). Step one: place my belongings in storage, pack-up my bag, and explore the many places I have always dreamed of and those that fall in between (first stop, Australia) Step two...

Dlaczego jestem na Couchsurfing

Many reasons! First and foremost though, is that I have seen the inside of many, many hotel rooms from my years of work travel, and while the sheets were crisp and wake-up calls prompt, they often lacked the spirit of the location I was in. Couch surfing feels like the perfect way to break free of those consistently designed rooms and lobbies, and into a world that is more closely connected to the culture of the location I am. Add to that, that I can make immediate connections with people that share similar interest around the world, and it gets even better.

Zainteresowania

The outdoors is where I tend to be the happiest. Whether it's in a canoe, on a bike, or out on a trail, I tend to have a solid smile on my face. And there's no better way to round out a big day than with some great food, cold beer, a warm fire, music, and the company of friends/family.

I also like to be creative, to build, and to refinish/refine things. As cheesy as it sounds, I like to help make things look beautiful, and to give ordinary objects new meaning.

Muzyka, filmy i książki

Each phase of my life has been accompanied by multiple music genres, so there isn't much that I can't listen to or get into. I tend to lean most towards indie-folk, alt-country, and ambient/post-rock music . Sufjan Stevens is one of my favorite artists, and one of my favorite songs is Harvest Moon (by Neil Young).

For books, I tend to lean towards non-fiction feats of strength/tragedies like Minus 148, Into Thin Air, and Denali's Howl (I am fascinated by Denali), but I also really enjoyed Murakami's The Wind Up Bird Chronicle.

Movies...the first thing that comes to mind is Wet Hot American Summer. The new Mad Max is the best movie I have seen this year.

Jedna niesamowita rzecz, którą zrobiłem(-am)

I have traveled to Alaska nearly ten times with a school group called The Alaska Great Lakes Project (look us up at http://aglp.com/!), which served to help eighth graders open their eyes even wider to all of the beauty and opportunity that surrounds them (through personal growth and environmental outreach). While its last year was in 2014, it remains one of the biggest influences in my life, and one of (if not) my favorite places to visit.

If you any interest in learning about the packaging industry (and how it connects to and supports most of the things we depend on), let me know. It's what I used to do for living.

For things I'd like to learn: farming, sewing and upholstery, how to build furniture (well), guitar, harmonica, and the accordion, kite boarding and wind surfing, how to tie the right know in the right situation.

Czym mogę się podzielić z gospodarzami

I grew up in a household of seven and started working at a very young age (i.e. I have been programmed to keep a clean house and be respective of other people's space and belongings).
