To save the world. No really!
I like having kooky ideas, seeing the funny side of everything, brainstorming anything and everything (just give me an excuse!), helping friends and strangers alike, and am obsessed with the idea of saving the world.
The purpose of influence is to use it for the cause of those who have none. All the fame, power and wealth in the world would be meaningless if we didn't strive to make it count.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Couchsurfing is a misnomer. The couch isn't real; it's really more about an attitude. Being open to welcoming strange people, strange food, strange ideas, strange languages, strange music, everything strange and new.
Now in Delft, so come on over!
I've couchsurfed 5 times.
First in Chamonix, France. I was the first couchsurfer at my host's place and it was my first time couchsurfing! The location was heavenly: Chamonix at the foot of the French Alps. The host: priceless. Some of the fondest memories of Chamonix I have now are not of the mountains, but of my host Benjamin and his son and their cute cat.
The second time was rather unofficial. I needed a place to stay for 3 weeks, and a friend's friend welcomed me in. Again, some of my fondest memories of a 7 month stay in Lyon come from those 3 weeks.
The third time was chez Jose, a friend I made at INSA. He was working near Nice, and I decided it was about time I saw him and the Cote d'Azur. Cote d'Azur was everything as advertised. But staying with Jose was like making friends all over again, and this time for real. If that makes sense.
Then came the wonderful trip to Maastricht where I met Karin and Diana. We had great conversations about road-trips in India to astrology and palmistry and what exactly EJC does. :P
ANC finally my longest couchsurf ever, chez Melanie and Fabien in Berlin! They were so welcoming, took me in for 5 days, and without their help, I never would have managed to see as much of Berlin as I did. Plus I got to meet a very interesting bunch of people at their sister's party. Lovely couple with a lovely apartment ;)
So who do I get the pleasure of meeting next?
Music, philosophy, world issues, nature, photography, video games, dancing (even though I can't dance), talking to people, sharing ideas, tweeting everything that comes to my head, learning new languages, hiking, interior design, typography, industrial & product design, fashion with funny collars, female hairstyles for short hair (I can't explain this) among other things.
- interior design
- video games
Music, Movies, and Books
Paul Auster & Herman Hesse are my favourites.
I used to read a LOT but now I'm allergic to reported speech. I'll tell you all about it. So I enjoy now more than ever non-fiction and introspective articles.
Enya, AR Rahman & various electronica artists. I have trouble paying attention to lyrics for longer than 10 seconds. So I enjoy the melody and the music and beats more meaningfully than the words of the song. So to me...the human voice is the best instrument I've ever heard.
I'm a movie buff, I watch anything everything. I particularly enjoy adventure, noir, character studies & rom-coms. I also watch way tooo many documentaries. Planet Earth, Man vs Wild, Elegant Universe, Cosmos are among my favourites.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Bernese highlands in Switzerland were the most beautiful sceneries I've ever seen in my life. This means I haven't been to the fjords of Norway yet.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn to dance, any type, every type of dance. I think dancing is the ultimate physical expression possible by the human body :) I wish I could dance.
Hmm I used to read a lot and (un)luckily enough I remember most of it. We could discuss anything, but I might ask more questions than I answer.
I am an amateur astrology/palmistry buff, and I'm totally open to the possibility of New Age theories and ancient prophecies and unsolveable mysteries, aliens and ghosts and creation myths and other kooky things.
Oh and we can try to discuss all this and more, in French. I could use the practice myself.
