Hi everybody, my name is Ido and I'm from the Netherlands. I'm an adventurous and sociable person with a passion for sports and the outdoors.
I was born in the cheese and stroopwafel capital of the Netherlands (Gouda), but grew up in the lovely city Delft which is often called 'small Venice' because of it's charming canals :-) A few of my passions are football, sailing, skiing, food and travelling! I'm a pretty laid-back person, love to be around people and like to get to know different cultures. Currently I am traveling through Mexico, if anybody is up for a coffee or able to show me the best taco in town, that would make me intense happy :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A friend told me about the concept when I was traveling in Australia. I was immediately enthusiastic and decided to sign up, best decision of my life.
I surfed in Australia, Turkey and Belgium so far and hosted a few guests. Altogether its a great concept, where you can help eachother discover and share the nice places of this world and give eachother local advice.
As you can see, my private life is mainly about sports, food and activities with friends :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Amazing Ankor Wat, was definately one of the highlights in Asia. When exploring the temples, which where hidden for hundreds of years in the jungle, it feels like Indiana Jones discovering the lost Ark. Well ok, I have to admit, just with a bit more tourists around you :p Besides Cambodia, I loved the Thai 'bounty' islands. It was amazing to snorkle at Koh Tao, but a bit scary when I saw a 3 meters long shark just a few meters below me. Luckely he already had dinner :D
In Australia I loved watching the sunset across the Oprah House in Sydney, while drinking a 'delicious' box of goon. Although, the real Down Under was for me at the holy rock for the Aboriginals called Uluru, better known as Ayers Rock, in the middle of the desert. When the sun rises, the rock changes colours from brown into a deep redish glow, which is an amazing spectacleof mother nature.
In Europe I lost my heart in Italy, specially Sically. The rugged landscape combined with the rich cultural heritage and amazing food and wines make it paradise on earth.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a relaxed and social person, and enjoy sharing stories and ideas. I always try to adapt to the host's lifestyle and house 'rules'. I love to share something of my culture, so I might bring you the famous Goudse 'Stroopwafels' (best cookie in the world) or give you a Dutch Heineken ;)
