My name is Ieva. I finished my degree this summer and am now looking for a job somewhere in Europe.
I am an open-minded and curious person.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a traveller, I think a sincere conversation over a shared meal with the host can top any hotel :)
I hope to become a host once I settle down somewhere.

I am not too much into movies; if they're good, it sucks they end in 2h, if they're bad, I've just lost 2h of my life. I prefer series in that regard :)
My favourite genre is crime drama, usually from the 90s and often so it happens with either Al Pacino, Kevin Spacey, Robert de Niro.
I loved Carlito's way, Scarface, Heat, Scent of a Woman, the Insider, Se7en, L.A. confidential, American beauty, Usual Suspects, Godfather, Goodfellas, Heat, Taxi driver, The Untouchables, Casino, a Bronx tale, The Departed, The Aviator, Shutter Island, Catch me if you can....
Some mindfuck movies: Eternal sunshine of spotless mind, Jacob's ladder, Memento, Donnie Darko, Fight club, The machinist, Prestige
Now that's something I probably spend too much time on :D At first I was watching series to improve my English and then just got addicted (convincing myself that I need to maintain my level of English when living abroad xD)
My favourites are:
- crime dramas: Breaking Bad, True Detective, the Shield, Justified, The Wire, Dexter, Burn Notice, Homeland
- comedy: Parks and Recreation, The Office (US), Misfits
- drama: Six feet under, Carnivale
- animated: Rick and Morty
I've also seen a looooooot of anime. I started watching it in French dub with French subs to improve my French as I realised that there are few French tv series and didn't want to watch American cartoons (seen all of them in English already). What was at first a means to learn a language soon became an addiction :') (a good one though since I learnt French for real)
I loved Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Samurai Champloo, Bakemonogatari, Berserk, Planetes, Gankutsuou, Nana, Ghost in the Shell series... and many others.
I am what you'd call a bookworm though lately I read somewhat sporadically; uni, work and other means of entertainment steal time from literature :/
Usually I read classics of 20th century. I am not so much into contemporary literature, first let's wait another 50 years to see if it's any good xD
Some books I've read in the past year and loved:
M. Bulgakov ''The Master and Margarita''
A. Nothomb ''Metaphysique des tubes''
M. Yourcenar ''L'oeuvre au noir''
M.G. Lewis ''The Monk''
I also read a lot of Japanese literature. My favourites are Kobo Abe ''The woman in the Dunes'', B. Yoshimoto ''Kitchen'', Kenzaburo Oe ''The Silent Cry''.
I read much less fiction than before these days because I got really interested in psychology - C.G. Jung, Erich Fromm, Rollo May, Victor Frankl, Bruno Bettelheim, Alfred Adler. Topics of human nature, meaning of life are my favourites.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hm... Maybe becoming almost fluent in French in one summer?
