About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring and learning

ABOUT ME

I am a very independent and easy going person. I am delighted by the idea of things, people and places new and interesting. I can have fun alone, and in a paper bag if I have to do so. Wine bars, pubs, dance clubs, outdoor activities, sports galore and social functions of all kinds are my sources of fun. I generally prefer social settings where I can mingle, but I also enjoy sleeping in late on occassion, reading, alone time and meditation. I am a LIBERAL person with LIBERAL political views. My hobby learning involves politics, hard sciences, and various genres of history.

JOBS I'VE HAD:
bartender
laborer for construction
military policeman
Protective Service Agent for MP Corps (bodyguard)
Live in nanny
Juvenile Corrections Officer
Administrator for state hospital in TX
Chaplain for VFW Chapter 9128
Congressional District Office of Congressman Bruce Braley (IA-1st District)

JOBs I applied for and did NOT get hired:
dog catcher for Nueces County TX
cashier at bowling alley
Operations Specialist for Homeland Security
Significant other of Clive Owens, Colin Farrel, Eric Bana and Vinnie Jones.

PHILOSOPHY

Let's start with the fact that I am an atheist. It seems a logical place to begin. I am infinitely interested in how other people think about their existence, it's purpose and the meaning they derive from it. I am highly sociable and can carry on a good conversation with just about anyone. I also know when to just shut up and enjoy the sunset without a bunch of chatter. I am all about enjoying all life has to offer and being open minded.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to try some surfing and get to a feel for how things can operate and then I'd love to host travelers in my own home later down the road. I just wish I lived in a place more sought out as a destination by other surfers. I am fully into meeting someone who makes me stop and think, And am totally fine with someone willing to just lend me their couch and pretty much ignore me. I'm flexible like that!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My home is Grand Central Station for my friends. I would love to open up my home once I develop a comfort level with the CS Community. I will have a full bedroom with private bath available once I decide to open up my home and my life.

I have never surfed a friend's couch let alone someone I have never met before. Totally looking forward to the adventure.

Interests

All sports of any kind. Reading. Travel. Running. Food. Learning something new. Good conversations with people less interested in spouting beliefs and more interested in an exchange of ideas, and good humor. I'm interested in people watching. Probably one of my favorite things to do. Having a meal or a glass of wine in some sort of outdoor patio setting and having the chance to just see what the hell people are doing is a ton of fun for me, particularly when done with someone posessing a good sense of humor.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I served in the Army during Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia. I saw the ravages of war and genocide up close and personal and the affect it has on a population.
I have an inner adreneline junkie that I have to feed every so often. I could go on and on about how/which said feedings have taken place.

Teach, Learn, Share

WHAT I ENJOY SHARING:
Fitness. Cooking. Camping Skills. Most sports but particularly golf, soccer, basketball, and running. Empowering other veterans politically. Love of films/cinema.
WANT TO SEEK FROM OTHERS:
How to row, play field hockey, possibly rugby (although I am getting old and stuff hurts), squash, meditation (I do daily, but like the idea of a sharing this with someone else or a group of people), their idea of good live music, their idea of a great night out in their own town.
