About Me

I've taken 3 years out of studying my BSci degree in Physics to travel. In 2015 I went over America, 2016 is in India and 2017 will be in Iceland.

I currently work for as a pizza chef in a restaurant at a holiday resort. The limit to my cooking is pizza and pancakes so I'll be willing to offer this service to my hosts.

I'm single, buddhist, non smoking, non-vegetarian, and only drink during holidays (birthday, christmas, new years etc).

I have a massive interest in learning Korean and visiting Seoul, and am planning a tour of Korea-China-Japan for 2019.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd like to meet locals instead of staying in pricey hotels when backpacking, and I'd love the opportunity to learn how locals live, eat and work. I'm happy paying back my hosts with labor or assistance in their work, in exchange I'd like a place to sleep and some assistance with directions or public transport.

You don't have to drive me places, but able to recommend somewhere I can find a taxi/bus.

Interests

In my free time at home I tend to web surf, computer game, volunteer at the local homeless charity and go for long walks. I'm lucky enough to live in a rather quiet village that has animal barns and duck ponds, so I regularly buy some food and go for a walk.

Music, Movies, and Books

In western music - Accoustic Covers like Boyce Avenue and Alex Goot, Taylor Swift, Disturbed,
In eastern music (asian) - SNSD, Girl's Day, IU, SHINee, Super Junior.

Movies - I watch most things but not horrors or thrillers. I like sci-fi and comedy most. Best movie of 2015 I saw was Legends staring Tom Hardy. Very good film!

Books - I mostly read science journals, but I recently read the Tolkein universe (LOTR, Hobbit, Silmarillion) and highly recommend them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My tour to America was amazing for me. I visited tons of tourist hotspots but I really thought swimming with manta rays was amazing. I spent 3 hours in a lagoon swimming with close to 100 rays, the largest were about 6ft wide. It was breathtaking.

Close runner ups was firing guns (UK has a no-gun policy) and the view from the Empire State Building.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - Obviously I'm a bit of a science nerd. I'm always happy to teach about some useless scientific anomalies, like rainbows, the northern lights, magnetism or the solar system. Get me started on these and I never stop!

Learn - I really want to learn how locals live their lives in difficult climates, how people create meals from fresh local basic ingredients instead of huge superstores and about the history of ancient civilizations that lived in the remote areas I'm visiting.

Share - I can share my music, pizza skills, and a good evening playing cards or maybe watch a movie. I'm happy to go walk to scenic routes and spend sometime enjoying the views! I'm a big fan of bodies of water, like lakes rivers waterfalls.
