I am a 20 year old English student at the University of Edinburgh travelling through France and Germany this summer with my two best friends. Ellie, Marianne and I are all outgoing and love cultural activities (as well as drinking wine...). I grew up in rural Wales and love the outdoors, whilst Marianne is from Scotland and Ellie is our resident Northener from Newcastle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I and my two best friends are looking for places to stay on our journey, experiencing the real heart of the countries we visit. As well as learning on museum trips, reading in the sunshine and wild swimming before nights out with European liqour, we want to get to know new people. Travelling for us is all about the experience, not just staying in hotels and seeing the typical tourist attractions.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: As English students, we love a variety of literary periods, from medieval epic poetry to the modern greats.

Music: a little bit of classical (Bach, Mahler, Vaughan Williams), a little bit of old school Peggy Lee and Sarah Vaughan, and modern stuff like Laura Marling, Warpaint and singer songwriters.

Movies: Everything from Woody Allen and Cameron Crowe movies, to classics like The African Queen and To Catch A Thief and modern superhero blockbusters.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camp in Ullapool in the Highlands and wild swim in the bluest, coldest waters of March.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can teach cheap student cooking, our cultural experiences and our loves.
We are willing to learn anything and everything this trip will throw our way.
We want to share a wonderful summer with some new people and their homes.
