About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Forget time, enjoy life and be in peace

ABOUT ME

Travelling has always kind of been who I am. I moved around a bit when I was younger due to my father's job, and now I can't stay still. I've been living in London for four years, but even as I'm planning one trip I start dreaming where my new destination will be. I'd have to say my favourite part about travelling is talking to people and experiencing different cultures. Living in London makes it easier to come across all sorts of people, but meeting people in their 'home' environment is always unique

PHILOSOPHY

To be as relaxed and enjoy my time on earth as much as I can. To me that means finding a balance and purpose in what I do. I can sit in a bar, sofa, beach or wherever and chat for hours - this is usually my favourite kind of day. I love going to the beach, lie in the sand and appreaciate the ocean.I love coming home and getting to cook a nice meal. Cooking makes me relax and I love it when people appreciate my food. I enjoy being really immersed in a book or film, and waiting all day to come home and get to spend the whole evening involved in that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't particpated in couchsurfing yet. I heard about couchsurfing when I went to a student conference in Norway in 2009. Lots of students had done it and related their experiences. The idea seemed amazing, and I think it has the potential to fundamentally alter the way we do tourism. Having backpacked before, by now I'm a bit tired of being a complete alien in other lands, living in a tourist attraction bubble. I think CS can give an insight which only the internet age allows. However, a mixture of cowardice and inertia has made me avoid it so far.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had indirect experiences of couchsurfing, through friends. I've talked to a lot of friends who both surfed and hosted, and have hung out with surfers when they were travelling. Each time I talk to someone who's doing it, it both inspires and excited me. However, I've always put it off. With an impending trip coming up, I've decided it's finally time to delve in.

Interests

I think potentially anything can interest me. So much depends on the enthusiams of who I'm discussing things with.
But I'd say my favourite topics to discuss are: people's stories, culture, sociology (in an amateur kind of way), literature, food, arts, languages, music.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite films are Dogville, il postino, the life of others and amelie poulain (each for its own reason).

There are just too many good books to write down in this tiny box. I am a huge oscar wilde fan and will read (almost) anything that is given to me, from classics

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think one amazing thing I've done is establish a network of wonderful people around the world. In a way it's sad to have people I love scattered all over the world, but it's amazing to have that warm feeling when I think of going somewhere and I know there's someone there whose company I really enhoy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think the best thing everyone has to share is their own experience and perspective on life. We can always learn, sometimes in ways we don't even expect, just from listening to people
