About Me

seeıng more of the world, but of course!

Well apart from traveling, I've lived in many different countries round the world. This is partly because of my work; touring, productions, festivals, artist residencies, workshops, etc.
And also partly, no, really, largely because I just can't get enough of seeing and knowing more of the world.
Each country l have been to or lived in has required
of and given me very different things. The challenge
of rising to the occasion and being a rapt adapter, no
matter what, is a little like food for me now.
My dad sums it up whenever he hears from or sees me with the greeting...
"Well, so its you my wandering Jew?! So
tell me, where are you NOW?!"

hmmm... im still working one out...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was introduced to CS living in an household that hosted many surfers in East Berlin. I had just moved to Berlin and was discovering it along with the surfers. the first time I surfed was in Istanbul, a year later, when i had finished performing in a arts festival there.
I wanted to get out of the artist camp, who like me were all foriegners and meet Turkish people my age. And it was amazing, I really did and they were wonderful and I had so much in common with them! It changed my impression of the country totally!! Actually truth is, if i hadn't couch surfed, I would have left Turkey without really knowing this country at all. And thruogh these fantastically nice, highly educated and hip people, I even came to have a small but genuine understanding of what Turkey and Turkish culture and society is about.

AND that's the beauty of CS for me!!!!

my tip for how to paticpate: wherever you are get lots of goodies there to share with people you'll meet in the next place. like sweets, artisan drinks, souvenirs and especially stories!

I've been couch surfıng for years but now that ıt is an offıcıal websıte and community, I'm thrilled!! No seriously, this is something really, well something! Yes, surely random acts of kindness and heartfelt gestures of hospitality have been happening since the beginning of humankind. And yes, traveling opens you up to the Universe and some marvelous things can happen. You are inevitably moving out of your comfort zone and what is known or safe to you and well... letting it just happen. So many times people have reached out to me helping or just letting me in their world for a little while and sharing it with me. And yes! This has undeniably made me a better person. Now with couch, this reality becomes an accessible network over the internet connecting people all over the world.

ok, This is very predictable being a dancer and all but anyway.. Dance - DANCING!!, modern dance, of course, and foremost. But all kinds, tango, salsa, meregue, ballet, jazz, folk, polka, waltz, hip hop, free stlyle....the list goes on and on! And I enjoy seeing, learning and of course, DOING!!
ALSO: Theater, plays, musicals, i often prefer off off broadway (probably because that's where i perform myself!)
AND! singing show tunes, fav songs, opera, singing while riding my bike, around the house, in the shower....
I love Art. AND Yes and Berlin is probably the best city so far for ART (AND ARTISTS)that i have inhabited.)
And books, AHHH, YES BOOKS, I read all the time. Dam thing with having lived in so many places is that I can never build my own library! In my dreams I have a house that has bookshelves from ceiling to floor, full of books!!!! Hundreds and hundreds of books, like works of fiction, novels, current ones (paul auster is one of my favorites,) but 19th and 20th century CLASSICS too, Russian, American, French, English authors. Books on History and Art. OHHH And atlases and maps are dear to my heart too! Especially from different periods. At the moment, I'm collecting different maps of Berlin,.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies...well gosh, I was going to say no Hollywood, no action, but then again what's a movie like Pulp Fiction then, or Kill Bill for that matter? And the last James Bond would be definitely Hollywood, right? but I loved it!
Lets see then, movies I like, hmm, well I really like seeing movies from other countries, it gives me a break from the usual scenery, style and content. No horror movies! especially gorey ones.
Music... always open to new stuff.
