About Me

I'm all about adventure, meeting new people, different cultures, and just learning through unique exciting experiences. I love deep conversations, and surrounding myself with others who strive to do great things and live outside of mediocrity. I'm an avid traveler so I'm out of town quite a bit, but if I am in town I'd love to host you if you ever come to Kansas! I'm pretty fresh to the couchsurfing world but the couple people I stayed with when I road my bike across the country made me super excited about the community its so nice to finally meet people who also love to travel! I'm from a small town no one from around here is like that!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe life is a gift and we should enjoy it while we can! I love meeting new people, learning from them, taking away new ideas, enjoying others company! I always like to have a good time, and I also feel like this is a great idea I've had other people help me out when I've traveled and I want to pay it forward!

Interests

I love adventure! I would definitely call myself an adrenaline junkie, outdoor sports kind of person. Some of the things I enjoy include wakeboarding, snowboarding, skiing, cycling, hiking, backpacking in general, I'm always willing to try new things and pick up new hobbies, I've barely tried surfing, I've bungee jumped, I'm currently learning to kiteboard and I've just started to pick up rock climbing. When I was in East Africa I decided it'd be fun to take on kayaking by trying it for the first time tandem on the Nile on class 5 and one class 6 rapid. I trekked through the bush to see the mountain gorillas, spent some time playing with a rescued baby elephants, some baby chimps, hiked a volcano and some waterfalls, things like that. My hobbies are always changing because I constantly love learning new things, but it makes it especially hard to do a lot of these things living in Kansas!

Music, Movies, and Books

I really enjoy reading anything that I can learn from. I just finished reading Salt, Sugar, Fat How the Food Giants Hooked Us, and the biography of Elon Musk which are both so different and I really loved both. I listen to a lot of audio books I'm studying for the MCAT right now so that prep takes up a lot of my reading time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I backpacked around East Africa with my female cousin we decided to go to the Democratic Republic of Congo and we couldn't tell anyone and the Peace Corp forbid it because of the conflict there but we secretly crossed into the country without telling our families or anyone really at all the UN was everywhere there but we just had to go hike the volcano Mount Nyiragongo it has the largest lava lake in the world. We were escorted by park rangers with their rifles but we had a point where we had to run through the bush with our heavy packs through the central sector of Virunga national park (if you've seen the documentary Virgunga about the mountain gorillas) because other groups of civilians were being ambushed by the rebels and they were coming our way, they ended up shutting the park down for awhile after we left country so I guess it's pretty amazing I made it out of there in one piece

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share with you my traveling experiences I wouldn't call myself a cyclist but I rode my bike across the country without riding a bike since I was 12 just working odd jobs to survive, I was fortunate to do some amazing things backpacking in East Africa, I worked in a clinic in Haiti treating patients and then in the hospital setting there as well with an infectious disease doc with the CDC. I always like to share my smile?!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd respect your home and appreciate the experience! I have plenty of travel stories I'm easy going and I love to have a good time I also l always like to offer to help cook, clean, whatever one may need in exchange for putting me up
