O mnie

Although Im german, I left Germany when I was 14 and moved to Bangalore, India. Ive done most of my travelling in India, low budget hotels, taking sleeper busses and crowded trains to get to places. India was just my place, because Im spontaneous, don't need to do everything exactly as planned and Im up for seeing something new. Im now living in Romania before I go to University.
I love meeting people from somewhere else and although Im pretty young, I think Ive seen quite a bit of the word already, mostly in Asia though.

Dlaczego jestem na Couchsurfing

The main reason Im joining now is because I'm on my Gap year, and this seems to be the best way to meet people who really know the place you're going. This year Id like to go travel around Europe a little, and hopefully meet loads of awesome new people.

Zainteresowania

I absolutely love animals of all kinds - I still haven't outgrown my horse phase, and probably never will. I love art, Ive had some of my work in small exhibitions. My whole take on life is a little creative, and my favourite thing to do is drawing portraits while listening to some good music.
Other than that, travelling of course, preferably as low budget as possible. In India I used to challenge myself to find places below 200 rupees (2.5 Eur) a night.
Photography is another one, although I don't think I'm very good at it, its something i enjoy.

Muzyka, filmy i książki

I can't say that I have one specific type of music i like, I only know what I don't like. I don't really listen to the charts or anything too electronic. I like looking for music that is softer, different, maybe with a saxophone, something along the lines of soft deep house with some vocals or instruments.
Books, hm. I love reading, so Ill try to make it short. Shantaram, The Game of Thrones series (the books are much better than the TV series), Fritjof Capra is awesome, and my absolute favourite - the swarm by frank Schätzing (a book about swarm intelligence, half real half fiction). Yeah thats a bit of everything.

Jedna niesamowita rzecz, którą zrobiłem(-am)

Im going to have to use the best trip of my life for that. Last August, I packed a backpack and took a bus up to the Indian side of the Himalayas from Delhi, got off the next morning in Old Manali. I met some people who took me on a jeep to the next stop, Kasol. We stayed in an awesome place with fairy lights on the walls, in this town full of people (mainly from Israel) that just wanted to get away from civilisation. My boyfriend met me in Kasol and we rented a Royal Enfield (a 500 cc bike the british used during the war) and drove up to Tosh, a village far far up in the mountains. There was no road, only a dirt road and it was pouring. We slipped a couple of times but finally made it. Tosh is beautifully serene, and very very cold. Next stop - Malana, another village that doesn't have a road leading up to it. The bike ride to Malana is my favourite part of this trip, it was sunny and were riding along these roads with steep cliff going up on the right and down on the left. Theres waterfalls, and the sandstone cliffs look insanely beautiful with their curvy shadings. The hike to Malana (because we accidentally took the long way) took around 4 hours. 4 hours of crawling up, half the time on all fours because it was that steep. We almost died, I have never pushed my body as much as I did there. We had all our luggage with us (15 to 20 kilos each), no water, and it was getting dark. We made it just in time before nightfall, otherwise we would've had to stay outside. Turns out theres a much easier way, that we ended up taking down. After that, we went back to Old Manali and just relaxed until it was time to go back home. Going around on a Royal Enfield in the Himalayas is not something Ill ever forget.

The main thing Ive learnt through my travels is that you have the best times when you leave your phone at home, start meeting people and appreciate differences.

Czym mogę się podzielić z gospodarzami

I can share a surprising number of stories about India, Ive been all over. Other than that, Im generally good company because I love listening.
When I was in India on my gap year I stayed with a couple of my old friends and teachers, so I know how to behave. I usually get the food, or do stuff like babysit or clean up whenever I can.
