About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Need a place to stay while I search for the perfect roommate.

ABOUT ME

My name is Adam. I am 32 years old and just got back to Portland after helping my mom out in Missouri for the last 8 months. I've been staying at the hostel, but need another respite, while I look for a room for rent. I am easy to get along with and have a healthy respect for others.

Interests

I love film. I have a predisposition for it, due to my mom working at the cable office in my hometown for the first 15 years of my life. When I was a kid, my room was plastered with movie posters she had gotten from work. In my formative years, I grew up staring at all of the movies I wasn't even old enough to see. My favorite genre is horror. I love the 80s horror especially, like Sleepaway Camp and Silent Night, Deadly Night. I like to read as well. I have been reading a lot of humor books lately, like David Sedaris and stuff like that. I want to keep learning and love to hang out with all different types of people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I came to Portland, about 4.5 years ago, I was staying with a friend on Mississippi Ave and worked in Chinatown. I would walk to work everyday, rain or shine. On my route one morning I saw two furry things beside the sidewalk (on Interstate Ave, along the MAX yellow line) and decided to check it out. Turned out to be 2 dead raccoons. Right next to them was a used syringe. I passed those items everyday for over a month. I started referring to them as my 2 dead raccoons and my lucky syringe. I'll never know for sure the story about how they ended up there, but in my mind, those raccoons were junkies that got wasted and were hanging out too close to the tracks.

A more recent incident involved the death of my stepfather. He died from "flesh eating bacteria". It was so strange to know someone who died from this. You read about it in the papers, but it is so rare, and to think my stepdad died from it is awe-inducing and ewww-inducing as well. He contracted it from a cut he got from working on an old car (1930s model) and it got in his bloodstream and attacked him internally. He died within a day and a half. They didn't know what it was until it had already shut down most of his vital organs. It wasn't until the last 10 hours that it showed up on the outside of his body. It started as a small red dot and spread all the way down the length of his torso. Nasty stuff. Nasty.
