Sobre Mim

CURRENT MISSION

Sitting Quietly in the Silence of Unknowing.

ABOUT ME

I'm a fifty year-old vagabond poet and simple man of God - spending my days traveling around America meeting folks, writing and trying to be kind and useful.

PHILOSOPHY

When you get to the top of a mountain, keep climbing.

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I really enjoy visiting a new town - often small college or rural towns - and meeting the folks and picking up the unique local feel and flavor and color of the place. The more such places I visit and the more such folks I meet, the more I realize that Emily Dickinson is right when she says "...the average person is a good deal more than average". People in this country are extraordinary.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Folks in Austin were great - I had far more "Accepts" than I could in fact accept. Baton Rogue was the same way...same for Memphis...same for Waxahachie!

Interesses

Interests include Emily Dickinson, Great Food, Great Wine, Great Beer, Discussing the Coming Revolution (?!?)

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

Music includes Late Baroque, Miles Davis, Coleman Hawkins, Les Mis; Movies include Chinatown, The Moderns, Trouble in Mind, Ikiru; Books - I'm afraid that list would be far too long...maybe we'll just say that my book-list informs me to "write like Emily Dickinson and live like Jack Kerouac"...

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

Rather than listing my "bucket list" experiences (living in Singapore, watching the sun rise from a mountain top in the Cascades, the birth of my daughter, etc.) I would say that the most amazing thing I've seen and experienced during a half-century of life is just that...Life. It's messy and difficult and exasperating and confounding...and absolutely, extraordinarily perfect. I look forward to fifty more great years.

Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe

Even though I'm an old grey-beard of 50, I would not presume to assume the role of teacher. The brilliance and energy I see on all of the profiles I've read so far on this site is humbling. I believe I still have a lot to learn from all of you!
