ABOUT ME

I was born in Ft Smith Arkansas, although I did everything I could to get away and have been traveling ever since. I have lived in London for a large part of my life and spent significant time in Paris, Rome, New York, Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, and Denver. I consider myself a progressive thinker, and am very open politically, philosophically and academically.

PHILOSOPHY

I guess you could say I am a Buddhist, much of my philosophy come from but I also take a lot from Neo-Paganism, Dudeism, dao and tao and Shinto.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I specializing in sustainable communities and developing off grid/self sufficiency models. I have lived in communities where I have actively been involved and lead the production of sustainable food growth, electricity production, and house construction. I have experience with small scale and large scale renovations, ranging from painting and decorating right through constructing extensions and landscape gardening.

I like the place where technology and real life overlaps. I believe that technology was supposed to enrich our lives not suppress it. I am dedicate to developing, finding, enhancing technology that improves the quality and sustainability of our lives.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like some music and entertainment but I rarely have time for it, when I do it consists of Mike Oldfield, Frank Sinatra, Jimi hendrix, Bootsy collins, Maceo Parker, Prince Rogers Nelson, Joni Mitchell, India Arie, Nina Simone, Grace Jones, James Brown, Dr John and Sun Ra. Movies I like are Dead poets society, Good will hunting, Sleeper, Manhattan, the breakfast club and almost anything by Kevin Smith. I tend to watch TED (Technology Entertainment and Design) more than I read, and when I do read its often non-fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was living in London in a community run building with 36 people from all around the globe, and the goal of the house was complete independence. In 3 months we had developed sustainable food, energy, sanitation and water collecting and recycling facilities. I developed an aquaponics unit that feed 36 people in a space 6 feet by 6 feet by 6 feet.

The first time I saw the rocky mountains, I was completely blown away by their size, ecosystems, meteorology and beauty. Boulder and Aspen have a very special place in my heart.

When I went to the top of the Eiffel Tower, I could see the whole of Paris in a panoramic view. My camera couldn't do the experience justice and I wished I could copy verbatim what I was seeing onto some kind of retainable medium.
