CURRENT MISSION
Meet new people, see new places, try new food, and take a few pictures on the way.
ABOUT ME
I'm a Canadian student with a BA in Classical studies and I'm about to finish my masters in Public Health.
I spent the first few years of my undergraduate degree trying to study something practical, but by my third year I gave up on that and decided to take classes in something that I loved. That's how I ended up with a Classics degree. I really like the literature and art/archaeology side of Classics, and I think it's absolutely fascinating that there were people 2000+ years ago who were so similar to us in so many ways. I decided to study something completely different for my masters, but in an area that touches on my interests for science, health, and education. Public health is such a massive field, with so much cool research and so many really interesting programs going on. I've absolutely loved studying public health, and I'm hoping that my masters will allow me to get an awesome job in a field that I love, and one that will help me fund my travels.
It's a bit weird, but I'm also super into dreams. I usually have at least one cool/memorable dream per night, and I've even taken a senior level psych class on sleep and dreaming. Feel free to ask me about it.
Overall I'm a pretty big nerd, and I drink at least 3 cups of tea a day. I'm pretty laid back but almost always up for trying something new.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Fiction: Don't think I have a favourite, but I recently read The Luminaries and loved it. Non-Fiction: The Wisdom of Whores.
Classical authors like Homer, Ovid, Suetonius and basically anything by Seneca.
Movies: I love documentaries and mocumentaries.
I like almost all music except screamo. I mostly like music I can follow and sing along to.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few years ago I worked on an archaeological site in Tuscany, Italy. We were excavating a massive Roman villa, thought to be leased out to the Imperial family in the 1st/2nd century AD (including Augustus' grandsons). The area I excavated was a roof collapse of a portico into the peristyle. We dug up hundreds of pounds of roof tile, but amongst the rubble, the coolest thing I found was piece of pottery with a beautiful flower decoration on the side.
I could probably go on for hours about my time in Italy, and I really hope I get to work on a few more excavations in the future.
