I'm a teacher in my 30's who has been living in Indonesia for the past few years. When I started traveling a few years ago, I was lucky to get some cheap deals and go to some great countries with friends or solo. I try to give back when I can, by teaching for free or doing some kind of community service in various places. My personal goal has been to see one new state and one new country each year. So far, I've been very lucky and have exceeded that goal each year...and I hope that continues!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The cost of travel can prevent me from going to a new place sometimes. I'm hoping to connect with people who believe travel is important for the soul. By saving on the cost of accommodation, I'm hoping to explore more of my own country, and maybe some places abroad...now that I know couchsurfing exists!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For my 30th birthday, I gave myself the gift of 10 days traveling around Peru...solo. It was my first ever solo trip. This was a high light of my life, an experience I truly needed, and a confidence boost like no other.

I've done charity work and community service in a few countries, and I think that there is no substitute for experiencing a place, a people and a culture first hand.
