Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I created my profile in 2012 to search for hosts in New York. Up until that point I was staying in hostels or guest-houses during travels. I started to write to dozens of people in NY, but the problem was that I the typical 0/0 profile. Nobody responded and I went to stay in a NY hostel.
During an internship in Qatar I discovered the Couchsurfer community there and fell in love. I recovered from my first bad impression :) and started to host a lot of awesome people. Also, helped out to organise some of the meetings. Overall I became a convinced Couchsurfer.
The internship ended and back in Berlin, I continued to host and had many highly enjoyable moments.
I moved to Ireland in the middle of 2014. Hosting became harder due to the lack of extra rooms in the small houses and high rents they got here. Therefore I can not host people currently.
My philosophy for hosting:
A real contact counts a lot more than preselecting people based on their amount of references, profile views, gender etc. If your request is at least a bit personal and decent, I will try everything to host you.
photography, movies, science-fiction, music, philosophy, psychoanalysis, meditation, good/simple food, design, cycling, travelling, improv theatre, toastmasters
Music, Movies, and Books
I'll just tell you about my biggest guilty pleasure movie of all time.
The fifth element. The movie has everything that you want to see from a good pop sci-fi flick. Real alien language, mild nudity and sexiness, stupid and exciting plot with freaky actors from start to end, French designer clothes, big fucking guns, fast, rich and colorful images, Milla Jovovich doing her kick-everyone-in-the-ass thing and Bruce Willis at the height of his action star career.
A European film made in Hollywood, which has the special 90s blockbuster feeling and is still a pleasure to watch after a dozen times.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching a sunset in a little village on the greek island of Santorini together with a beautiful greek girl.
Standing on a high sand dune in the moroccan sahara and looking into the glimmering distance.
