ABOUT ME

I quit 2 jobs in the fall of 2012 in order to pursue my goal of becoming a travelling snowbird. My ultimate goal is to maintain seasonal residences and either work seasonally or parttime or some combination thereof.
I'm starting by just "taking the winter off", and getting a feel for how I like life with a little more flexibility. It may all end up a failed experiment :), but I want to give it a shot!

Update:
Been working parttime off and on, and still trying to figure out how to make this snowbird thing work.
So far it's been like I take some time off, play around, spend my money, then come back to work for a bit to build up the travel war chest again.

Gotten some good examples and tips from other travelers, so I think I'm getting closer to finding the perfect balance.

PHILOSOPHY

My top two values are joy and curiosity. I believe in soaking up all the value life has to offer, and remaining open to new experiences by not becoming jaded or cynical.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I connects with CSs as I travel whenever possible, and host folks at my home when I'm in town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lovelovelove couchsurfing and all the folks I've met.
The generosity of hosts never ceases to amaze me, and whenever I have guests I've been impressed by a shared vibrancy of spirit --- it's such a strange contradiction (?) of commonality and diversity. I feel that everyone I've met via CS would get along great with eachother.

Interesses

I love reading books and watching movies. I often can seem to talk in movie quotes, too bad I can't retain book info to the same degree (at least I'd sound smarter ;)) ...

I enjoy hiking, camping, and fitness.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

Vocal trance is my favorite genre (as an example, Armin van Buuren is a DJ many have heard of), but I like most everything from classical to Top 40.

Cross-country motorcycle travel is such a unique way of seeing the countryside. The variety of camping spots, the little dramas that pop up along the way, and the overall sense of really being in close contact with the open road make it such a fulfilling experience.

I'm pretty animated and enjoy having good conversation, so I definitely won't just hole up under the stairs. I usually make a decent impression with people, so if you have any friends who think it's wacko that you host couchsurfers, I'd be a good one to introduce them to. ;)
