About Me

***in profile picture I'm wearing the blue bandana***

I'm an avid reader. I play guitar and fiddle and recently found out I'm a pretty good drummer, and I'd love to jam (also I sing). I did improv in college and love performing comedy. As my profile mentioned, I'm learning french, currently reading L'Etranger. I also love to draw, though I don't have any formal training.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm taking a gap year from UC Berkeley, re-evalutaing my life and traveling around the West.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS I love Tom Robbins and try to read one of his books every 6 months or so, I'm currently reading Jitterbug Perfume. I love epics such as Paradise Lost, the Aeneid, and the Song of the Volsungs and the Nibelungs. I'm also very interested in the beat generation, though I can't really identify with their plight. I've read ON the Road and Naked Lunch (which I can't claim any understanding of). I also quite like Russian literature.

MUSIC I adore Bob Dylan. Other than that, my music tastes range from 60s style garage rock to klezmer to french pop to baroque to modern hip hop and I'm always open to expanding it.

MOVIESMy favorite movie is Poetry (you should definitely check it out if you haven't seen it). Call me a hipster but I tend to stay away from the latest major movie theatre movies. I like the movies of the French New Wave. I underwent a fairly serious Wes Anderson affair about a year ago. Also, I loved Snowpiercer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nothing yet, maybe that's why I'm doing this trip

Teach, Learn, Share

As I mentioned I play the guitar, fiddle, and drums, and I'd love to learn more, even if it's just discussing certain ideas or techniques of yours. Also, if you'd like I can try my hand at teaching you. Same with drawing. Also, I could definitely use some singing tips.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Music, whether that's listening together or playing together. Books, movies.
If you're into creating of any kind whether that's writing songs or poems or stories or making movies or drawing or painting, I'd love to do that with you. Also I'm open to going to events of any kind, so if you don't like going places alone, I'd love to tag along.

Countries I’ve Visited
