About Me

18, South African born Congolese. I've always been challenged by the idea of being a part of something bigger than me, what way better than immersing yourself in a completely foreign culture and environment? Being at the threshold of 'freedom' (in my last year of secondary school) i'm compelled to see the world and gain an array of skills simultaneously.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've partially highlighted this in my about me, but in essence I enjoy the challenge and development that arises from travelling. Having only had the opportunity to travel once overseas, briefly in my adolescence, I've always felt drawn in to going back. The experience will also be beneficial because it will round out my eventual résumé.

Interests

I have an exceedingly abundant amount of interests that span from one edge of the continuum, to the other. My 'fundamental' interests include: walking, reading (i'm a logophile though, not a bibliophile), fashion, aviation (my lack of knowledge is however almost demeaning *tisk tisk*), interior design, socialising, wine, exploring and i must add shopping.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll state some bands here, songs are a bit tasking. I enjoy the likes of:
Daughter, the Wombats, Arctic Monkeys, the Offspring, Ellie Goulding, the Kooks, MGMT, Mumford and Sons, Luciano Pavarotti, James Brown, Sia, Beyonce, Rihanna, Adele... i'm not very demanding in terms of music, but my versatility is, i admit, a bit specific.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It might sound minor but: My aunt was once 'coerced' in to putting me in charge of one of her events (she is an event-coordinator), circumstances would have it that she'd had to be in two places at the same time. I managed to reasonably get a birthday bash for +/- 65 guests prepared with the help of an amazing and efficient venue team. I'd stunned my aunt and myself. I'd love to be given such an opportunity again!

Teach, Learn, Share

English fluency, could give basic English causes. Tutor host families and teach them basic English. My french communication skills are reasonable and I could help people get a grasp of basic French communicative skills and techniques .

What I Can Share with Hosts

Insight in to my home country, the DRC a war-striken country gripped with economic instability, political upheaval and ailing development. Information on life in South Africa where I live, basic conversations on the diverse South African culture and life.

Countries I’ve Visited
