About Me

I´m a typical guatemalan teenager. Im not rich niether poor. I have a good education. I´m studying a degree in molecular biotechnology (sounds amazing, right?) in Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. Open-minded guy (at least for Guatemalan culture, which is pretty closed), non-conflictive and curious as hell.
I live with my parents, and they´re pretty close minded so forgive the fact that am not recieving any gests. By the way I´m a beginner in Couch Surfing (I hope i can change this description later) so, if you have any tips for me, i´ll be gratefull. (I´m not a native english speaker so grammar nazis; please forgive)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The world astonishes me. I mean everything about it, and I want to be part of it. I am obsessed with people and how they live. I´m also in love with nature and all the wonders lurking in it. to put in simple; I want to know the world that astonishes me so much.

Interests

I love juggling, specially with the diabolo (also known as chines yo-yo).
I play the guitar (not as good as Jimmy Hendrix, but im not a beginner either) and i really like it. And by science i mean i love to learn about how things work (including culture, nature and laguages)

Music, Movies, and Books

In music im something that we guatemalans describe with the word "shumo" (pronounced shoo-mah). A "shumo" is someone who could be described (difficultly) as "non-americanized" or a "pure latino". That means i like salsa, cumbia, bachata, regguea, reggueaton and hip-hop in spanish. But talking about movies and series, im not a "shumo". I like superheroes movies. And my favorite series are Breaking Bad, Avatar: The Last Air bender and Da vinci´s demons. As wierd as it sounds; i like science textbooks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Gosh, hard question! I think that the answer would be when i lived among indigenous keq´chi people deep in the mountains of Alta Verapaz (one of the poorest regions in the country). Even though they were REALLY afected by poverty, and they could barely speak spanish (they´re native language is keq´chi) we had so much fun. You couldn´t believe how happily these people live, even though their soul-breaking stories about harsh moments. I played dodge-ball with the children, I shared jokes with the old people (usually the jokes were about me and my bad keq´chi) and I definitely cried a lot.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you a lot of things that most people see as useless. For example, how to use a diabolo or maybe one or two things about nerdy science (i´m studying a degree in molecular biotenchnology). If you have never lived in a third-world country I can describe meticulously for you. If you have, we can share stories. This also applies if you want to know how is to live in a latin american country.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sadly, right now my home isn´t easily open to guests (because of my parents). But if you ever visit Guatemala, pay me a call ((502) 43140169). I can teach you how to visit the most amazing places in the country (usually non-commonly visited by tourists). This also includes the best food stores and markets.

Countries I’ve Visited

El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, United States
