About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Staying Islandside

ABOUT ME

I really became alive in October 2002, I was trapiseing around Australia and ended up going sailing on a boat called "British Defender". Day one and I was hooked. I went for a 3 day sail and ended up staying a month and taking a competent crew course . Four years later I went back and spent 3 months living aboard and sailing all sorts of boats in the Whitsunday Islands.

For years I've been wanting a boat and this year I bought one. I got a contract job in Melbourne,FL and a co-worker sold me his boat. A week after buying it I got laid off. I moved the boat to Cape Canaveral to do much needed maintenance and spent a few months there.

I ended up sailing back to Texas and a year later sold the boat. I've been stagnating in Dallas a couple of years and need to travel again. Looking forward to meeting other travelers in the near future.

PHILOSOPHY

Island time Mon. No worries. Well maybe worried about hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, coconut to the head... Etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've done extensive overseas couch surfing without this site. The Australians and Kiwis have been awesome hosts for me just meeting them in various situations.

I've even hosted friends of friends in the states. My parents have been hosting international visitors in their B&B for 20 years and I'm often invited to meals with them.

Looking to start surfing in the near future as I head for the coast.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

9 months in Australia and only a few nights in hostels/hotels.

2 months in New Zealand same again. Hitchhiking in NZ is too easy and some awesome conversation.

I learned backpacking/couch surfing in OZ even before I found the website.

Music, Movies, and Books

2000+ movies on a portable HD. 1000's of hours of old TV shows on another. Books? They still print those things?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

9 months in a very far far away place. I'm often asked how are you so lucky to be able to do that.

Teach, Learn, Share

What more could you want, I consider myself to be on the life long learning experience. One thing I've learned is you could spend 10 lifetimes living on the sea and still have something to learn.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, New Zealand

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
