About Me

Meet new people from different cultures and have lots of fun!

In many ways, I'm a California kid. I'm very relaxed and easy-going, but I also like to go out, have fun, and party! I love to laugh and joke around. I get along well with most people; I'm very courteous and understanding. I also enjoy meeting new people, especially on trips to foreign countries. I am very interested in other cultures and worldviews different than my own. I'm open-minded and like trying new things. Also, I tolerate most lifestyles and am not prejudiced against any group of people.

Way too hard to explain in this small amount of space! I believe life should be lived to the fullest. I believe in trying your best to follow your own moral code (whatever that may be) and sticking up for your beliefs and interests (while respecting others). A quote that I love is from Thich Nhat Hanh,

"If one person is a real person living happily, smiling, then all of us, all the world, will benefit from that person. A person doesn't have to do a lot in order to save the world. A person has to be a person. That is the basis of peace!"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Just surfing for now because I signed up right before a year of travel.

None so far...

Travel!!! I love traveling, seeing new places, and learning about other cultures. One reason I like travel is that I like trying new foods and going out to new restaurants or bars that I haven't been to before. Also, I like learning about the history and cultural influences of places I travel to. I also like to play sports (football, American football, basketball, baseball, skating, surfing, snowboarding, slacklining, and others...) I love spending time with friends doing whatever... I enjoy reading books and watching movies. My favorite books are probably the ones in "A Song of Ice and Fire" series (Game of Thrones) and it's hard to choose a favorite movie but I would have to say "The Big Lebowski" (American cult classic). I love going to the beach!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow... hard to choose. One that sticks out is the Rio do Prata in Brazil. I snorkeled down a river with the clearest water I've ever seen and saw many beautiful species of fish (and also a caiman and anaconda!). It was an amazing, wild place. Another experience was hiking through the jungle on Lake Tanganyika in Tanzania (Africa) searching for chimpanzees. It was awesome watching chimps up close and again I was amazed at the beauty of the place. A somewhat different experience that I also loved was visiting la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, a large museum-complex with many attractions and beautiful architecture in Valencia, Spain.

Teach, Learn, Share

I studied mostly philosophy, social studies, humanities, and political science in college and grad school. So, I like talking about any of those subjects. I also like discussing sports or playing sports with new people. And, of course, I know a lot about where I come from, California. I've lived all over Cali so I know it well.
