ABOUT ME

I've lived in in Canada's desert, On a boathouse on Vancouver Island where I could watch seals and whales, and in the deadly Montreal winter. I am trying to understand myself and life and I do this through my art. I paint. I write. I sing. I make music and dance.
Of course I couldn't do this without looking into the mirrors that humans, animals; all of reality holds before me.

I have 2 blue eyes, 2 hands, 2 feet. Not everyone is blessed to be in one piece, but there is always something to learn, from anyone at all!
I like cooking for others, nurturing old friends and new.

He steps into the great flow and finds that although strange experiences come his way, they make sense and eventually lead him somewhere important. To himself.I try to live this. Seeking the positive within the sadness and discovering that joy and learning are everywhere. Really, what more can we do? I am not claiming a thing such as fate, or simply watching drifting clouds, but the more we open ourselves up to the wonders of the moment, the more wonders are opened for us...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As a new member, about to travel for a third time to Japan, I hope to forge new friendships and pass those friendships on to others. Visitors to my current city, Montreal, are welcome to book me for a free tour.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've searched on my own couch when I've had visitors.
I've had a couple of homestays in Japan at 13 and 29. The last one had me sent off with a really fun party where 5 guys who've seen about 85 years each insisted I could drink shochu as though it were water. At a karaoke bar the patrons had me sing a medley of the songs by the Stones after asking me which ones I liked, me thinking it was for them to sing and that finding that I was the nights entertainment. I was still drunk on the way to the airport.

Camping.
Watching the world go by.
Beer, sake, scotch. From time to time. The days of week long benders are over. Drunken wandering is still welcome.

'Book of five rings.' by Miyamoto Musashi. What I liked in there was the idea that if you can do any one thing well, you can transfer your knowledge to another pursuit.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

Lived for five years with my wife Izumi Okutani. Held her in my arms as she lay dying and spoke to her in her native tongue, singing her a song we made together. She changed the core of my being and if somehow as energy she is aware of me, I hope she can see how grateful I am to her for who she was.
