Eating my way through the world. What a beautiful way to live, right?
Ciao!I'm 2nd year college student that attends a progressively liberal college in the U.S.(Oberlin College)Although I'm double majoring in Politics and Sociology, most of my interests lie outside of these two fields.I truely love learning about people, which is is why I love traveling.I also enjoy watching the Food Network, blogging about pop culture, and traveling when I need to escape my little bubble in the midwest.
I was born in Heidelburg,Germany and have spent the last 17 years of my life living in the wonderful city of Chicago.I'm the oldest of 4 children and tend to act like the "mommy" out of all my friends. That being said,I do enjoy partying every once in a while, but would much rather hang out with a group of friends and a case of beer.
When I tell people that I interned for then-U.S. Senator Barack Obama, they tend to think I'm pulling their leg. But,it's true. The summer after I graduated I served as an administrative intern in his Chicago office under his Illinois Director,Cara Castellana.I also have worked alongside U.S. Secretary of Education,Arne Duncan as a youth advisor and later as a chief executive intern when he was CEO of Chicago Public Schools.
More about me:I'm a huge fan of British soaps such as the EastEnders.I love U.S. reality television although I find it to be rather trashy.I love all kinds of music, from dubstep to house to indie to rap.
If my friends were to be put together in a room, one could say that they looked like the U.N!I'm fortunate enough to be around an eclectic diverse group of people who truly are unique in their own way. When I travel,I try my hardest to meet interesting individuals that like to have good conversations about anything!I love talking about politics,philosophy,food,religion,outerspace,music,history...
One of my biggest passions right now is taking care of the environment.Well, not a passion..more of a life choice.I like to help others understand the importance of recycling and reusing materials as often as they can.For the past 2 years I've served as a board member for the Edmonia Lewis Center for Women and Transgender People which has allowed me to be an "ambassador" of sorts for the queer community at my college.I'm a huge talker but also know when to keep to myself.
If you' like to know anything else..please let me know!
I live my life with no regrets because life is too short!I also believe that I am the only person that can shape the course of my life--which is why I have as much fun as possible while also staying true to my personal endeavors.Gosh, this is a little heavy...
I go through everyday as though its my last.True story.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I interned in Brooklyn,NYC during the winter on 2010,I had several stints couchsurfing through an artist collective,a collective of vegan lesbians, and finally settled in at a friends BedStuy loft..right across the street from the Notorious B.I.G.s home.
Modern dance,musical theater,sketching in my ever-present moleskin,the environment,karaoking,cooking Thai/other Asian cuisine/anything tasty,photography,beat-boxing,philosphy,traveling(of course),thrift shopping,martial arts(took Filipino martial arts for 5 years)..and meeting new people in new places!

Music, Movies, and Books
The Science of Sleep,Cruel Intentions,Being John Malcovich,Practical Magic,Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and the usual 90's crap + lots of indie films.

There are too many books in my arsenal.Honestly,it would be a crime to categorize my favorite books...but my favorite of this decade would have to be the HP series.
