About Me

I grew up in Switzerland and even though it is a beautiful country and I love the forests, lakes, rivers and mountains there I always knew that when I finish school I want to live somewhere else. So I left and went to study in Perth, Australia which is where I still live now.

I love animals maybe more than humans even though humans are animals too so I can’t really say that.

I like walking at night or really early in the morning when the birds are waking up and everything else seems so calm and quiet. However I also like sleeping early in the morning…

I love the ocean.

I like exploring new places and also places I have been to many times… everything always changes and there is always something new and different no matter where I go.

I feel very passionate about not destroying this beautiful planet we live on and I would like to help reduce suffering as much as I can.

I believe we need to make big changes if we want to keep existing as humans… I am interested in learning more about Permaculture, Tiny houses on wheels, Earthships, Anarchism, Resource based economy, Socialism, Zero waste, Circular economy and a combination of lots of different ideas to find a way for us to live without turning our planet into a place where we and a lot of other animals won’t be able to exist anymore.

I love sunshine but I also like rain and love to curl up on the couch with a good book and a huge cup of herbal tea and then when it stops raining I like to go outside because I love that fresh smell in the air… It’s amazing how tiny bacteria can have such an impact on our lives… I mean in general not just because of the smell in the air but anyway I am supposed to talk about me… I like walking in the rain too if the temperature is not too cold…

Sometimes I like to get as far away as possible from people and spend time in nature but at the same time I also enjoy having deep and meaningful conversations or just being silly with other human beings. I don’t really like calling it deep and meaningful… to me it’s just conversations about interesting things which can be pretty much anything… apart from things like celebrities or shopping or I don’t know… there is probably lots more but in general I am very open minded and love to learn new things.

Ohh I also like a combination of sunshine and rain because that creates beautiful rainbows.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love exploring new places and meeting people. A while ago when I visited my friend in Hong Kong I did not only get to see Hong Kong but I also experienced a little bit what it is like to live there and I learned a lot. I am not really interested in flying around the world and taking photos in front of tourist attractions with a million people next to me doing the same thing. I want to meet people and learn about what life is like for them wherever it is they live and how they see the world. As much as I like talking to people and spending time together and learn from each other I also like to have time on my own and get lost in a place I have never been to before. My husband Ross and I are going to Switzerland to visit family for 2 months and we are also planning to travel around Europe a bit. I thought that this would be a great opportunity to find out what couchsurfing is like and hopefully meet some like-minded people. Maybe you will be one of them? :) It’s not a problem at all if you don’t have time to show me around where you live but it would be nice if we could spend a little bit of time together even if we just share a meal and have some interesting conversations.

We are planning to host people at our home in Perth when we get home in September.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On one of our first dates Ross packed a mattress in his car (a really nice one which he got from the mattress place he worked at) and we drove north of Perth away from all the City lights. He put the mattress on top of his car and we spent the night there. I remember waking up and not being able to fall back asleep because I had to look at the stars. It was magical!

If you have seen the night sky in WA away from the city you probably know what I mean, if not I highly recommend it. I am sure there are other places that would be similar or maybe even better like the Atacama Desert in Chile which is on my list of places I would love to visit one day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning new things. I know a little bit about the things I mentioned earlier and I can share my knowledge. However I believe there is always more to learn and maybe we can have some interesting conversations and learn from each other. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking so we could make some lovely vegan food together.
