Overview
About Me
I love learning about different cultures. I love being out of my comfort zone of my usual environment, as a push towards personal growth and relationships being built around the world. Studying abroad has always been a dream for me, so I bought a one-way ticket to South America in June.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I tried the hostel set-up, and although it offers a solution for a travel need, it really is not my favorite. I would like to have a more intimate, cultural experience in the places that I am visiting with local natives of the culture.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: ranges from Adele, Sara Bareilles, Amy Whinehouse, Jazz, some country; mostly latina music: kumbias, regaton, merengue, salsa, bachata, and I would love a cultural introduction to music that is indigenous to certain aread.
Movies: I enjoy romantic comedies, thrillers, documentaries, suspense/mystery. I do not like scary movies and am limited in my enjoyment of sci-fi, although I am open-minded :)
Books: I love to read. My favorite read thus far is The Meritocracy Myth.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I bought a one-way ticket to South America without really having any plans when I got here. I would like to stay for at least a year, and then see where the wind blows me :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn more Spanish, and I have been self-teaching French and Portuguese. I would love to learn everything possible about the culture, as well.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have a life of interesting stories to share with my hosts. I am happy to help with any English lessons, although teaching is not my forte, I can still try. I love to do physical labor and am happy to help with anything around the house. I would also like to hear about their lives, their histories, the history of their culture, etc.
