To experience the people of the world
I have a love for travel, for getting lost and discovering the unknown. The world is filled with so many people and so many individuals stories, and I have become enamored with listening and interacting with them. I am a passionate listener, patient and often easily distracted by electronics... I am currently studying Agricultural Science, with the hope of working with farmers and researchers to increase communication and knowledge transfer between these two relatively isolated groups. Where in the world that will happen is up in the air right now, and frankly half the fun of my degree.
Putting it simply, try everything once, don't be afraid of failure, enjoy the moment, share good food, smile and drink with friends. Life is about experiencing the world and sharing it with wonderful people.
Travel keeps me busy most of the time, as do my books and my networks of friends. I love to cook and share food with people, engaging over a meal. It sometimes seems like my conversations will inevitably lead to a discussion about food or a related subject. I enjoy walking or biking in the city and trekking in the wilderness.
Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy a good movie every now and then, the range is huge: hollywood action movie, documentary, BBC drama and French Cinema.
I read everything from fiction, most recently and highly recommended, The 100 year old man who climbed out of the window and disappeared. To fantasy and non-fiction science and policy texts.
Music is like movies for me, depends on the feeling of the day, from jazz to hip hop to folk. :) I will listen to anything but heavy metal once.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Walking through Kalamalka Lake Park in British Columbia and happening upon a black blear in the middle of the summer reminds you of how fragile a human being truly is, and how much respect for nature we often lack.
Stumbling off a long journey to Berlin and finding a market filled with fresh food, hand crafts and so many people out enjoying the sunny weather made me stop and realize what I love about traveling.
