About Me

I'm a 22 year old Finnish backpacker. I grew up in the countryside but lived most of my life in the city, my mom owns a modest cafe and my dad works for a stone masoning company, I have an older brother and a two year old half-sister and I love them both to death. I am studying international business back in Finland but decided to use my summer break to see Europe. I'm intrested in non traditional traveling so I like to look into all possible options of transport and accommodation. I love hostels and airbnb and decided to give this a try aswell. I like traveling by train, carpooling or even hiking/hitchhiking. I'd like to think myself as an easygoing amd friendly person. I like challenging myself and meeting new people. I believe in helping people out and appreciate people helping me, a little bit of human kindness goes a long way. I have worked three years as a salesman in a clothing store for men and I have been to the army as men have to in Finland. I spent the whole year 2015 in service and returned home with the rank of an officer (Second liutenant). My goals in life are to visit every continent, travel through Asia by land and to one day run a marathon. I'm not on facebook. Not that I don't approve of it, I'm just afraid it would bring out the worst of me and end up making me pretend to be something I'm not. Only people close to me know what's going on in my life.

Interests

Bouldering is a more recent hobby and I am a complete beginner in it, I've been going to the gym actively for a few years now. Interest in traveling, running and movies all come from my family. I've been traveling with my family since I was a kid and my parents always urge me to go see the world. My mother is a running enthusiast and has ran a few marathons in her time, she sparked my interest in running when I was young. Movies comes from my older brother who is a proper film enthusiast, we love talking about actors, directing, the score etc. Video games is just a great way to relax at the end of the day, it is a great way to spend time with friends if you can't see eachother too often.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think almost everyone has the possibility to travel, it is just a question of lowering your expectations of comfort. Many people think traveling is more expensive or hard than it is. Don't be afraid and get out there!

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."

-Mark Twain

An absolutely beautiful and truthful quote by Mark Twain.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Help around the house, interesting stories, bad jokes, I can be a farmhand if the place requires. I don't need much, I am grateful of shelter and a possible shower. Rent is negotiable if the host wants. I'm a good help in anything physical (chopping wood, moving, etc) Don't be afraid to ask for help.
