About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To encourage my son to be a curious, engaged, and considerate person.

ABOUT ME

I dropped out of high school and hitch-hiked/hopped trains around America when I was a teenager. After a few years of that I settled down some, married and had a little boy. The marriage ended years ago and my son will be 12 this summer. I just completed my undergraduate degree in English/Medieval Studies at Mount Holyoke College here in MA, with plans to apply for grad school next year. We currently live in an old farmhouse in the Berkshire hills, about 25 minutes north of Northampton, where I work. My passions include hiking, gardening, writing, traveling, Celtic/Irish mythology and folklore and medieval manuscripts.

PHILOSOPHY

Personal accountability is the key to living a good life. Take responsibility for your actions, be respectful of every living thing, and be as humble as you can when confronted with the unknown. No one's perfect, but I've found that this generally gets me through life relatively happy and in great company.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to meet some new people who are passing through western Mass.
I will also be taking a two week trip to Ireland with a friend in June and would love to meet some locals while we're there.

Interests

Reading, writing, creating things with my hands, cooking, more cooking, love good music but (unfortunately) don't play anything, painting and drawing, hiking (anything outdoors, really), love traveling and experiencing different cultures, gardening and medicinal herbs...

I mainly listen to punk, country, bluegrass, folk, classic rock, celtic/traditional and indie.
I'll read anything. My list of favorite books and authors is pretty extensive. I'm reading some Kerouac right now and a book about moss.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 18 I hopped a freight train from Minot, ND to Wanatchee, WA.

Countries I’ve Visited

England, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands
