About Me

Currently, I am a student studying MSc Work Psychology in University of Sheffield, UK. My home country is Malaysia. I started my career in HR profession after I had completed my degree program, and I had approximately 7 years of working experience in HR.

People often say I appear to be serious, cool, a little mean, and some may find me unfriendly when they met me for the first time. Well, I guess my first impression to someone is not always pleasant. I am an organized, conscientious, meticulous and discipline individual as I am educated and trained to be like that since young. I believe these characteristics have shaped me to be who I am today. However, my friends probably will tell you don't let my outlook deceives you. Indeed, I can be very talkative, careless and funny if you start interacting with me, but it might take some time to see the other side of me.

I love being around with people and I gain my energy from interaction with others, yet I enjoy being alone, not to be bothered. That's me. I am just an introverted extrovert individual, nothing complicated.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Previously, I was too focus on my career, I kept postponing my travel plans with excuses. I finally realized the importance and benefits I could gain from travelling in the last 3 years, and travelling is now one of my favourite activities. The world is too wonderful to tour around and I should have done that whenever I can. I enjoy meeting new people, making friend with people from different part of this world. Now, I would like to remove some items in my travel bucket list before it gets too long :D

Couchsurfing is my first choice since it is economic, convenience, broadly used with great reviews, and it is highly recommended by travellers I have met. It suits my purpose perfectly as I have budget constraint (since I am now a student). Furthermore, CS provides me the opportunity to expand my social network. If possible, I would like to be host for the members who visit or travel to my country in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I listen to a wide variety of music, my preference changes depending on my mood and the moment. However, Faye Wong's songs, Oldies, Bossa Nova & Jazz instrumental music, R&B songs are my all-time favourite.

Movies: I love watching comedy movies that make me laugh hard, I also enjoy emotional heartfelt movies (i.e. romance/drama/ musical/ family/friendship). I find sci-fi, action, adventure, super-hero, fantasy movies fascinating as well. Some of my favourite movies are: One day, The Lake House, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Moulin Rouge, Resident Evil movies series, Underworld, Real Steel, Miss you already, Beautiful mind, and most of the movies starred by Sandra Bullock.

Books: Unfortunately, I do not read as often as I am supposed to. I am still cultivating the reading habit. I am interested in motivational self-help books (particularly by Andrew Matthews); management books (e.g. "Who Moved My Cheese?", "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People", "Th Art of Talking to Anyone"), psychological books (e.g. "Thinking, Fast and Slow", "The Power of Habit (Why We Do What We Do)", "Mindfulness" ), and travel magazines. I seldom read story books or novels in English, most of them are in Chinese. Recently, I am reading a book known as "Reasons to Stay Alive" by Matt Haig.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had decided to spend all my savings to pursue one of my dreams, i.e. studying master's degree abroad. Eventually, I became a full-time student in 2016. I seek to enhance my knowledge, to live a whole new life, to explore different culture and learning environment. Life is about endless learning and exploring, and I want to embrace it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I believe I could share with hosts the events from my life experiences as long as the hosts are interested to find out more. I would love to share with them about the mixed and diverse cultures, activities, norms, festivals in my country and some countries in Asia (especially what I had learned from the people I had collaborated with during my working life). Perhaps some life perspectives, fun facts or stories when I was travelling.
