About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Seize the Day! or you'll get seized!!

ABOUT ME

Hi! I am from South Korea. You know where it is since you are a WORLD-CLASS person, right? I spent most of my childhood in Seoul and a little bit in some rural areas. Interestingly, I can remember most of the time in rural area than in the city where I spent most of childhood. One funny memory is that I climbed a tree to imitate Tarzan after watching the movie (NOT Jane!) but I ended up with breaking my arm. Maybe the experiences I had in rural area made me WILD.

When I was 15 years old, my family moved to Swansea, UK. Before I moved, the most hateful subject was English. So when I arrived at the Heathrow Airport I couldn’t speak a word. But to survive, I had to learn to speak English and so here I am, a person who can write in English (also read, speak, understand!!!!). Tada~!!!! I still believe that if I hadn’t gone to UK, I cannot be friend with English now. I am interested in learning other languages now especially Arabic. "Assalaamu 'alaykum"

I am a junior at Handong University, major in International relations and English. The greatest thing about being a university student is to meet various kinds of people and to learn ways of make good relationship with them. I am a member of ‘Sign language club’. In there, I learn Korean sign language, participate in performances, go out for a social work once a week, and attend deaf church. It is very sad that Koreans still don’t see sign language as a LANGUAGE. I believe that languages decide each culture. Therefore even though we are all same Koreans, the culture is absolutely different. So the first thing to do to understand their culture is to learn sign language, but in people’s mind, deaf are just disabled and so people draw the line and distinguish. Only if people change their mind and accept sign language as a LANGUAGE, then the discrimination could be disappeared.

I love to sing (although I am not very good at it). It’s very sad that Karaoke is not popular in some other countries as in Korea.

PHILOSOPHY

If you come to the fork of a road, always choose the way that you regret less.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all kinds of movies and enjoy watching movie a lot.
The most impressive movie I watched recently is Slumdog Millionaire. I was shocked to see the reality of children suffering in India.

I enjoy listening to all kinds of music (except heavy metal, freaky songs and electronic music) very much. I can’t live without my MP3.
I mostly listen to Korean songs. I am not a fan of specific singer; I just choose songs by its melody, lyrics and the voice of singer. These days I’m into Yoon Mi-rae and Tiger JK, Yoon Do-hyun, Nobrain, Seong Si-kyoung and Yangpa (they are Korean singers) I have one habit and that is if I fall for a specific music, I listen to it over and over again until I get fed up with it.
For foreign singers, I enjoy listening to Nickelback, Sum41 and Beyonce (she’s got attractive voice).
I also enjoy listening to classics as well.
I enjoy singing as well.

I am not a big fan of books. But I do read occasionally. I try to read various genres as possible. Recently, I read ‘The Interpretation of Murder’. It was very good book to explain the theories of Freud and Carl Gustav Jung with highly tensive story outline. I don’t know how many night-sleeps I passed to read it. Other recent books I enjoyed are Guillaume Musso’s series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The amazing thing I’ve done is social work. I taught some children whose parents are deaf. As their parents can’t talk, it’s very hard for children to have the basic education such as learning mother-tongue language or simple mathematics. So I taught little children Korean and mathematics. I’ve learned so many things through that experience. I realized how important children are and that all children have right to be treated as one human being not some possession of their parents. This precious experience opened my eyes to children and led me to decide what to do for living in the future.

I cannot forget the scenery I’ve seen in Petra, Jordan. First I was amazed at the nature itself and then I was amazed at the high techniques of ancient people. You must visit Petra if you go to Jordan. You will definitely regret it if you miss it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Korean and Korean sign language if you like.
Maybe I can teach you how to cook Korean food.

I want to learn Arabic. If you can speak Arabic then could you teach me a little bit?
I want to learn driving!!
I want to learn scuba-diving.
