About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find a job and finally put my education to good use!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've just started and have never actually couchsurfed before! I'm moving to NYC in a few weeks and am hoping to use CS while I get my feet on the ground and hopefully be able to host people in the future--either in NYC or wherever I go next. If you have a couch that's available for a few days from the end of March to mid May let me know!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Um, second-hand. I know a lot of people who've done it and I've heard nothing but good things. So, good!

Interests

I am mostly interested in people, interesting people. I love to meet people from the around the world and basically anyone that has a story to tell. I'm into sports of all kinds. I play soccer and do yoga whenever I can, I run regularly, love to ski, do water sports, etc. Travel, obviously. The one thing I always knew I wanted to do was to see the world, so I'm doing what I can. Live music is also at the top of my list, my favorite thing to do on a night out for sure.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I love biographies, Che Guevara's and Eva Peron's are two of my favorites. Anything by Hemingway (cliché, I know), Catch 22, Wild Swans, 1000 Splendid Suns, Freakonomics, Memoirs of a Geisha, Bridget Jones' Diary
Movies: gangster movies especially, Pulp Fiction is a favorite, anything by Tarantino really. Goodbye Lenin, Fargo, A League of Their Own, Forrest Gump, My Cousin Vinny...
Music: The White Stripes, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Broken Social Scene, Bright Eyes, Wilco, The National, James Brown, Vampire Weekend, MGMT....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I've ever done was hiking up Santa Maria, a dormant volcano outside of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, and watching a smaller, active volcano, Santiaguito, explode (spew ash, not like flying lava or anything!) from above! An experience you can probably only have a few places in the world.
Saw James Brown and the Flaming Lips live in Australia.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmm, here's a piece of trivia that I hope comes in handy at a pub quiz for someone someday: did you know the word "robot" comes from Czech?
