11 years ago I left the soulless, corporate rat race of big-box retail management. Teaching and mentoring were what I enjoyed most about that 23 year career. I combined the most enjoyable part of that experience with my passion for skiing and became a full time ski instructor in Big Bear Lake in 2001.
In winter, have been supervising the Adult Ski School at Bear Mtn since 2003. For the past 6 summers I've worked with the U.S. Adaptive Recreation Center on Big Bear Lake teaching water skiing, sailing, kayaking and Jet-Skiing to adults and kids with physical and cognitive disabilities.
This winter, in addition to my Bear Mtn Ski School gig, I'll be an adaptive snow ski instuctor with USARC in Big Bear and starting as an instructor at Lionshead for Vail Ski School.
I'm inspired by Anthony Bourdain. "He understands that food is not just something you stuff into your mouth to hold you over until your stomach is growling again. It’s the common thread between every culture in the world. It breaks all language barriers. He has pointed out how personal food is. It is the direct result of a person’s history. When someone cooks you a home-made meal, they are sharing their life story."
"He said “Try everything”. Try all the food you come across, you never know until you try. That’s how you will taste the best food in your life. The unplanned and the unknown are where life’s greatest surprises are." (Mindy at Silver Linings)
