One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I've done was traveling to Europe for six weeks in the summer of 2013. I've visited 10 countries including Spain, Germany, England, Scotland, Ireland, Czech Republic, France, Austria, Netherlands, and Italy .
It was the most amazing thing I've done in my life. Sometimes I was traveling all by myself, and I have leaned a lot about the world and my self. I really do not mind traveling by myself. It's been a fun adventure when I travel by myself.
For Germany, I had my friend visiting from Korea and we met in Frankfurt first. It was a Korean guest house and it was dramatic that how we were able to meet without phone or Internet. We were lucky and the guesthouse lady pointed out that my friend was taking a nap in the room. Hahaha. We had a great time in Frankfurt -people watching was the best part about Frankfurt! I wanna go back :).
Next, we took flight to London, England. We had a great time there getting on a tour bus and walking around the town where the movie Notting Hill was shoot at.
Also, we went to Edinburgh, Scotland. Oh my goodness Jesus Christ!!! Edinburgh was the most beautiful and amazing city I've ever seen in my life!!! It is because I loveeeee 1) medieval theme, 2) kilts and back pipes, 3) sexy Scottish accent, 4) awesome Frinze festival going on at that time, 5) cute Scottish wool products, 6) awesome food and beers, 6) super friendly people, 7) fun Frankenstein bar, 8) amazing scotch tasting 9) all other awesome Scottish things!!!!!
My friend had to go back after our Scotland adventure :( awwww. Next, I headed to Menchester, England, where I first participated in CS. I met my friend, Alvin there. Omg he was so nice and he was a really good cook. I can't remember nice English tea he brew for me and he cooked really awesome breakfast for me.
Next, I headed to Donabate, Ireland. That was my second CS experience. I met Nick and Agnes there. Oh my gosh, they were such wonderful people and I really appreciated their hospitality. My highlight of the tour was visiting the leprechaun museum. It was so like a fairy tale and so much fun!!! I felt like a became a little kid again!! Sooooo cute!! And Of course, Guinness tasted the best at the Guiness museum. What a pleasant visit I had there!! My favorite food in Ireland was Guiness beef stew. It was so good that I even ate it twice a day.
Next, I headed to Prague, Czech Republic. I stayed with my friend and her bf there. She was studying in the states for a year and we met back in the days. She moved back to Czech after her studies were done. My friends were sooooooo awesome. They took me beautiful castle, beautiful city walk, and everything. I really enjoyed their beer.
Omg! Pilsner urquell tastes sooooooo much better there. Draft beer is definitely different. Much more fresh!! Their dark beer called ...?!! I forgot the name but that one was really good too. It was with the picture of bull on that beer or something.
Also Czech dumping dishes are so good and it cheap!! Another amazing thing I found was amazingly delicious Czech lemonade. My friends called it 'communist cola lemonade.' They explained that back in the days when Czech was communist, the coke products were not allowed so they had this communist version of cola hahahahha so funny right? It tasted really good though. It tasted amazing that I wanna get it again, but I don't know if they sell that anywhere in the states! :)
My friends drove me to Vienne, Austria on the weekend and I had tons of fun there. Vienne is such an awesome city. Unfortunately I didn't have time to enjoy classical music (like Mozart)concert (tourist spot) there but next time I really wanna go there :)
Next, I headed to Paris, France. I had an awesome reunion with my friend Misha there. I haven't seen her for long long time. She was married to a French husband and she moved to Paris. We had so much fun there together. Her husband was so nice! The cheese from Normandy was introduced to me as the first time. I saw Mishas husband eating that cheese with bread every meal. It was a great cheese. Also my friend cooked so much Korean food and she was a really excellent cook. She made kimchi at home and she cooked Nissan, lasagna, miso soup and rice for me. Oh boy I learned so much from her!! Also she was growing sesame leaves there at home (Koreans love sesame leaves for their 'Ssam' it's like salads.)
The highlight of Paris was definitely Montmartre. I loveeeeed it! I enjoyed 'I love you' wall at the park, the cafe Amelie was shoot, Dali museum (one of my favorite artists!), the man went through the wall art piece, everything's there!!! Omg I wanna go back. When I was a young child, my parents brought really cute painting from Monmartre. It was really small painting size of my palm. I really liked it so I bought some similar paintings again there!!!! Soooooooo cute!!
Next, I headed to Barcelona, Spain. I hung out with my Taiwanese friend and her sister there. Her sister was studying in Barcelona so we stayed at her apt. Omg!!!! Barcelona is amazing. I visited beautiful places that Gaudi created.
The highlight of my tour in Barcelona was definitely Sagrada Familia church. No wonder why this is the best tourist attraction in entire Europe!!!!!!! It was so stunningly beautiful so I didn't know how to react. I felt so holy there. My goal is to visit there again when it's completely built. What year would it be? 2026. Omg I just googled it and it says 2026. It's 11years after this year. Omg! I totally wanna go there again.
Barcelona was amazing. It's such a party city. You can drink anywhere in the city and party all night. It was soooooo much fun!!!! Also my favorite food there was paella. there is no question. Paella is the best Spanish dish. I haven't eaten good paella after I left Barcelona!!!
Next, I headed to Venice, Italy. I met with my MBA classmates there. We rented out a big house there in Venice. Oh my goodness! Venice is such a romantic city. Gondola ride is a must do thing there. Holy cow! So beautiful!!! We had soooo much fun there. Great food, great scenery, and everything was so wonderful and awesome.
Next, we as mba group moved to Bolzano, Itay. We met there with my professor and the rest of the MBA class. It was a part of our MBA class happening in Italy.
After spending a night we went to Dolomites, Italy. it was amazingly beautiful Italian Alps where we stayed and studied. I took the most amazing and challenging hike in my life. It was so beautiful ! I didn't know how to describe it.
We had Emotional Intelligence training there and T-group sessions were so intense!! But it was so much fun and Rewarding. I don't think I can ever forget how amazing and awesome it was.
After my class, someone classmates went to Cinque Terre. It is a rally beautiful town on the coast that Rick Steves strongly recommended. We rented a house there and had so much fun enjoying nice view and people there. Their seafood including lobster pasta was the best!!!!
Also I don't think I would ever forget the hike I took there. I actually fell and hurt my foot there and my friend helped me a lot when I was hurt. Luckily I was a minor injury.
Next, i went to Florence with some friends and of course, Florence is a romantic city. I really enjoyed hop on hop off tour there. Duomo was soooooo beautiful I don't think I will ever forget how beautiful it was.
Next, I went to Rome!!! Rome was so much fun! colosseum was the highlight of the tour definitely. I went there twice, enjoyed its beauty so much. Vatican was fun too. We had a tour booked there and it was really great to visit Vatican.
Next, I headed to Berlin. I had a lot of fun in Berlin and my favorite things there was things about Berlin Wall. I shared the similar feeling of the people who went through separation of east and west Germany. It's like Korea. Having north and South Korea separate by war? such a painful experience. I really enjoyed visiting check point Charlie and other museums there. Of course, Dali museum there was amazing too. I think I wanna go back to Berlin for sure!
Next, I took the train to Munich just to visit Oktoberfest!!! I went there all by myself but I had so much fun!!!!! It was a lot of drunk, party people wearing German traditional clothes. It was really fun!!!
After spending a day there I headed to Amsterdam. The final spot of my Grand 6 week Euro trip. I had sooooo much fun in Amsterdam. What an amazing city! I had so much fun visiting places there on my rented bike. It's so beautiful!! I wanna definitely go back there. Awwwww
My trip was ended there and I came back to Seattle. It was the most fun adventure I've ever had in my life. I want to go back to these places again for sure. I should plan my next trip soon. Thanks for reading my longggggg story!!! Congratulations, you're done!!! :)
