About Me

I work in marketing, and my husband, Kevin, is in law. Like most Americans we work too much, have short holidays, and thus travel too little. :)

When we do travel, we prefer non-touristy places and experiences, although it is hard to avoid sometimes! We love being active but mostly it's Joanne just trying to keep up. We love street food. We love meeting people with good hearts. We love when you've been somewhere new for a couple days and become familiar enough with the streets to feel a bit at home there. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I firmly believe you don't understand a place until you've lived there. The next best thing is being friends with a native. The next best is couchsurfing or similar experience via AirBnB or otherwise. Except we are mostly spontaneous and I would hate to inconvenience someone last minute, so at the time of writing, we haven't tried couchsurfing yet! So far I am bad at this, haha.

Interests

Short mishmash list of both my and Kevin's interests:

Being in nature; hiking/swimming/novice climbing; architecture; plants/gardens; dogs/animals in general; woodworking/pottery/creative activities; sports; food!

Music, Movies, and Books

I appreciate all kinds of music but it is not an active interest of mine. If anything I prefer to watch artists in small shows playing their instrument; it's magical to me.

Science Fiction is my favorite movie/book genre. I will go completely gaga over a quality sci-fi blockbuster film.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I found Patagonia to be quite amazing.
