About Me

I'm a project manager/business analyst for the State of Illinois. I have a BS in Computer Science and a JD from Liberty University Law School. I'm retired from law practice. In my spare time, I'm writing a young adult science fiction romance that I hope to get published someday. I think it would also make a great movie. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing.com for none of the usual reasons. Sure, I'm interested in visiting some far away locations. For my novel, I need to do some on location research in England, France, Switzerland, and Italy. But in the short term, my reason for visiting here is much more urgent. My marriage is about to collapse, and I may need a place to stay for a while so I can start to reorganize my life. I don't need much, just a place to sleep and a bathroom.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: A few Bach tunes, Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber, anything by Karen Carpenter, Chicago, Christina Grimmie, Mandy Moore, Ed Sheeran's Perfect

Movies: It's a Wonderful Life, Pride & Prejudice, Back to the Future, The Time Machine (the old version), The Lake House, anything with Abbot and Costello, Crosby and Hope, Serendipity, Jesus of Nazareth

Books: Lord of the Rings (the book was a life-changing experience, the movie was so so), CS Lewis' Out of the Silent Planet, Martian, some recent Young Adult books like Between the Lines, Insert Title Here, a ton of titles on the art of writing, the original Wrinkle in Time, the Bible, Siddhartha, and a bunch of titles I know I should be listing but just can't remember right now. :/

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed Chickie's Rock in Pennsylvania when I was a young man. In my street shoes. I was with some friends through work and they challenged me to do it so I did. As soon as I got to the top I curled up into the fetal position. They told me that's pretty normal for someone who's never climbed before. But then when I sat up and looked out over the horizon at the sunset sky and it's reflection in the river way down below, it was totally worth it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Whatever. I'm open to talking about most anything.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Israel, Mexico
