About Me

Update my profile...

I'm easy to get along with and I like learning new things. I've got a few travel stories but I'd much rather hear yours.

Some links for fundraisers that I've been involved with:

Canada to Mexico by Bicycle
South Carolina to Arizona by Bicycle
Kilimanjaro Climb

"Nadie puede llamarse Pedro,
ninguna es Rosa ni María,
todos somos polvo o arena,
todos somos lluvia en la lluvia.
Me han hablado de Venezuelas,
de Paraguayes y de Chiles,
no sé de lo que están hablando:
conozco la piel de la tierra
y sé que no tiene apellido."
-Pablo Neruda
A man said to the universe:
"Sir I exist!"
"However," replied the universe,
"The fact has not created in me
a sense of obligation."
-Stephen Crane

Languages, history, cultures, traveling, reading, physical fitness, backpacking developing countries, long distance bike touring, documentaries, strange foods, regular foods, etc etc.

Looking for pizza joints or "diners" in developing countries where normally such a place would be inappropriate. If I'm away from the States for awhile I start craving comfort food and being served a hamburger with a fried egg on it or ketchup on pasta starts to sound like not such a bad idea.

Music, Movies & Books

Documentaries, mindless Hollywood action flicks, 80s-90s punk rock, cultural music, non-fiction.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

One time I poked lava with a stick in a volcano.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to travel long term through developing regions. Safely.Well, probably.
Some things off the top of my head that I would like to learn in the next 1-5 years:
French and Portuguese.
Celestial navigation with a sextant.
Persian (If they ever let me in.)
Tajik if they don't.
