Hello world !

My name is Johanna :) Not sure why couchsurfing.com has me down as 18 yrs. old, but I am infact 32 yrs. old :) I am a friendly, good natured, compassionate, perceptive, kind, (and sometimes funny; I always come prepared with silly animal jokes !) gal. I am a dedicated student of Dzogchen and Shambhala Buddhism, and I spend alot of my time these days traveling to various places to receive teachings from specific Buddhist teachers (rinpoches). Although I am taking a break from my career as a photojournalist, I still love to shoot pictures of the places I go and the people I meet, as a contemplative practice, and to capture the rich moments in life that I am lucky to experience everyday ;) I am not much of a party person, but enjoy cooking delicious vegetarian meals for my hosts and friends, spending time with animals, listening to music (I have a music blog ;), taking pictures, meeting new humans, spending hours getting lost in used bookstores, urban exploring, Sunday afternoon drives in the country, watching Sci-Fi, French coming of age films, or documentaries, reading, and learning, sharing, and creating community ;) I look forward to meeting and cooking for you ! <3

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

As a dharma bum and wandering documentarian, I find it a much more rewarding experience to spend time with real people in new places, making new friends, sharing stories and experience, expanding my community, and participating in that of others. Versus spending time by myself in a hotel room reading books and not engaging. Wouldn't you rather couchsurf too ? :)

When I was 17 years old, I spent the summer and fall semester of school climbing 10 of the 53 14,000' high mountains of Colorado ;)
