After 25 years of marriage & raising 2 adult sons, I find myself flying solo & in position to experience some international travel. With my 30 year career, assisting others purchase & sell residential real estate winding down, I intend to take advantage of the prospect for extended travel.
When traveling I enjoy the opportunity to learn from the thoughts & experiences of those I meet.
Having diligently practiced Transcendental Meditation since 1975, I am committed to mindfulness, communing with nature & am currently focused on improving my listening skills.

I actively seek out & enjoy live music from many genres. Some favorites include Los Lobos, Ry Cooder, Steve Earle, Steve Winwood, Ray Davies, Dave Alvin, David Bromberg, Tom Waits, Van Morrison.
Movies that I have enjoyed include anything by the Cohen Brothers, Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick or Monty Python.
As an avid reader, I am never without at least 1 book in my hand & rarely not reading more than 1. I enjoy fiction, non fiction & travel most, but will read virtually anything I find to be well written. Some favorite authors include Christopher Moore, Tim Dorsey, Tom Robbins, Khaled Hosseini, Bill Bryson, Christopher Buckly. I recently enjoyed "Infidel: My Life" by Ayaan Hirsi Ali

I have hiked from Haleakala (10,000 feet) to Hana (sea level) on Maui; on the same trip I hiked the Na Pali Coast on Kauai, from Keʻe Beach to the Kalalau Valley. I have also hiked the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne in Yosemite National Park, twice. I recommend hiking Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness in Arizona (reservations required)

I enjoy starting my day with a fresh cup of coffee, ( French roast in a French press, is my go to at home, but recognize the importance of being flexible when traveling), while reading a chapter from J. Krishnamurti's commentaries on living. These are beautifully written short chapters that begin with descriptions of the natural setting, then delve into questions regarding the human experience, concluding with insight into the nature of these shared experiences & thoughts of enlightenment that challenge our perceptions of reality.
After which I feel prepared to take on the life's daily challenges with renewed vigor.
